Gun Show Eyewitness Report
self | 12/26/2012 | crusher

Today is my "Going Galt" day as I retired in preparation of moving to the retreat in the mountains. To wash the taste of work and DC out of my mouth and to bask in the atmosphere of good vibes I decided to go to the 1000-table gun show at the Dulles Expo center about 15 miles from DC.

As I approached the neighborhood, traffic was so heavy I could hardly even get off the highway, "No biggie," sez I as it was Friday afternoon. As I approached the Expo Center I saw a different truth, that it was traffic to the gun show that caused the gridlock.

I have never before been to a big gun show where not only was there no parking to be had, but there was gridlock in the parking lot and I wound up parking a couple shopping centers away.

The came the entry lines. There were two lines snaking around the huge hall all the way around to the back, essentially four blocks long. There were hundreds, perhaps thousands of people in line and it took ONE HOUR to get inside. Once inside, there was virtually no moving around as the crowd was so huge there was almost no floor space available for walking.

ARs were flying out of there, and it seemed like the floor price level was in the $2600 range, with some tricked out versions going for close to $5k. Ammo was plentiful but price was up about %50 from the last time I bought any. And guys were wheeling out hand trucks of it.

The dealers were saying that today was nothing compared to what they expect tomorrow. One reloading supplier told me he expects to have virtually no inventory to pack up and haul home at the end of Sunday.

Yep, Barack Hussein Obamao is the nation's #1 gun salesman for the fifth year in a row.

Now, back to "Going Galt."

5,000 troops from where? Crack Rangers or Seals? Not likely.

Combat hardened soldiers or Marines? Doubt it.

These American troops you envision shutting this country down all have families living in this country. Doubt they will want to endanger them, or do all of them get evacuated (become refugees) to “safe” political zones.

How will these roadblockers be protected? They will need resupply and an evac route, both real tough to do when their vehicle becomes inop. Sabotage is the number one enemy of occupying forces, no gunz needed. After the first several groups are found hiking “back to their lines” buck nekkid, their buddies will have little enthusiasm for taking their place.

I believe government drones trump banging on doors to collect our guns. This isn’t the 90’s. Obumma needs no enforcers, though his 53% are voting like they would love to off us, with or without drone use. Just cuz.

“Magpul 30rd $40”

FrogDad bought 50 30-round PMags today at the local QM store (he’d had his name on a list) for $14 each.

Wow...
BUMP for great freeping.

Stories like this make me glad I’m already armed to the teeth.
Still want more, though.

Guns and rifles (and ammo!) are a better investment than gold, and more “barterable”.

BTW, I recommend to freepers:
1. Learn how to pack your own shells and store powder.
2. Invest in a good scope or two.
3. If you can find night vision, just buy it.
4. If you can find silencers, just buy them (or make your own - google)
5. If you can find a quality vest or two, just buy them.
6. Booby trap your storage area (and, of course, drill your family regularly on how to access it and how NOT to.)

Good luck everybody.
Congratulations once again to America for re-electing an African communist as its president.
Chins up! Remember America fondly for what it once was.

If done right, it would take a lot less than most people realize.

(shrug)
That strategy would mainly hurt the people in the concentrated Democrat parasite nests ("cities"), so who cares? Out here, I have woods and deer and turkey and fish, and gardens and chickens and fruit trees, big territorial dogs and plenty of guns and ammo. I even have gas masks.

Anyway, how long would it take for the "troops" to give Ubanga the finger and just quit?

It is being reported on the news that in Colorado (where Colorado Bureau of Investigations lightly staffed personnel handle background checks) that they currently have a backlog of 10,000 checks and that their “instant check” program is currently taking 10 days.

That would work. I believe it's federal law that says the check CANNOT take more than 3 business days without a deny or a proceed being issued. If no reply is received on the background check by the third business day, then the dealer can transfer the firearm to the buyer.

Hi Mountain Climber,

Today I heard from a gentleman attempting to purchase a gun in Colorado from a retail store that the Government One Call 1-800 number was disconnected. A few states use their own background check departments, but many rely on the government hot line. Maybe it was just a temporary outage but the store was unable to make the sale. And you have to admit, shutting down the hot line would be exactly something that Obama would do. Anyone experience this today?

Got HUGE order last week for several THOUSAND AR-15s. Client expects to do 5 years of business in 6 months.

Where does he think he's going to get his parts supply? He'll be lucky to get enough to assemble half a dozen rifles in the next six months. AKs may be a little better, but AR production is halted waiting for legal clarification.

Dunno where you’re getting that. Most AR manufacturers and parts manufacturers are spooling up and going as fast as they can.

I bought a handgun today and the background check took 4 minutes. No problem here in Alabama.

You take Columbine, Virginia tech, the batman movie shooting and now this latest one one, and what do they ALL have in common? GUN FREE ZONES, each and all. The bad guys knew before hand that there would be NO ONE there who could fight back, cause they would all be unarmed.

And what about places where guns are allowed? Take the NRA convention some time back in Charlotte. TEN ACRES of guns, and not one shooting, either in anger or by accident.

I suppose I’m considered “extreme” by many for my views on this, but I oppose these background checks under any circumstances and I’m old enough to remember when there weren’t any.

Think about the purpose of the 2nd Amendment to begin with and the fact that we now have that very government “approving” our excercise of this right. It’s like asking the Fox if we have permission to guard the chickens.

F the Fox!

I don’t have a problem per se with background checks to filter out felons and crazies, but I can definitely see the system being abused by a rogue criminal administration like the one in power now. In fact, there are whispers that the system is grinding to a halt even now.

The only solution to patriots that want to stay below the radar is to “buy black” and that is a crappy choice to have to make. :(
