Mmmmmm... Lutefisk and Balut together? I grew up in NW Minnesota and Lutefisk was a Christmas season staple. Tolerable but only just... Tried Balutes one time in Olongapo, PI. I’ll NEVER do that again!

I’m still trying to figure out a dessert wine to pair with it.”

Thunderbird or Ripple?

Hahahah!!!! I was there as a dependent, and they tried to get me to eat a balut in Olongapo, but...there wasn’t a rat’s asses chance in Hell I was going to eat that, with the way it smelled.

Just making me feel a bit nauseous, even forty something years ago!

durian

The first time I read about durian was in the WSJ on how food chains were localizing products. With Mickie D in Indonesia, they would feature durian shakes.

The part I remember is a non-Indonesian describing it as tasting like an old running shoe that's never been washed.

Some tastes are harder to acquire than others.

a KFC double down wedged between two hefty glazed donuts.

I love the DDs, but never imagined them between donuts. Makes me think.

No enough San Mcgoo in Olongapo to make those go down, nothing says romance like a bar girl handing you one of those.
