Just announced on KKSF 910
Eight voted no—one was Rubio don’t know the others yet...
Eight out of 100? We are sooooooooooooo screwed.
Just heard Rand Paul and Dick Shelby voted no.
Let me know if you aor ANYBODY hears how Collins, Snowe or McCain voted.
Guy on Fox said a few liberal democrats voted no as well. I’ve yet to see a roll call.
No’ votes: 3 Ds (Bennet, Cardin, Harkin); 5 Rs (Grassley, Lee, Paul, Rubio, Shelby)
Well yeah. The Senate is the Supreme Soviet to the WH’s Politburo . . .
Folks, this bill is a good start. Many more bills will be coming, this is just the first. The house needs to amend it with winning proposals to divide the Rats and stop the spending, but they have to be proposals with broad public support. End child tax deductions for illegals, and no pay raises for Govt employees - those things will divide the RATs but bring the public to our side - I hope the Pubbies on the House are smart enough to play the game.
PS - stay away from SS - losing issue, unless you restrict it to people in country minimum of 10 years.
have to count on the 50 or so TEA Party in the House now.
2014 GOP primaries are gonna be open season on RINOs I guarantee.
Thank you!
Reporter on Fox said this was just a 2 month extension, and that all of this will have to be done again in a few weeks.
Wow, just when a little over half the country is watching New Year’s on TV!! I bet the GOP will never learn to play a crisis like that!
That’s not quite as bad, I guess.
Not all of it, but the spending will need to be re-authorized. This is where the House needs to be clever. Find ways to cut spending the RATs hate but the public loves. This is how the game needs to be played.
Of those eight I wonder how many did it for politics and how many did it out of principle.
That’s nice. Spending comes from the House. F*ck what the Senate wants.
Meaning that this vote is 100% meaningless since the next congress can make whatever they pass retroactive, as congresses have done in the past. I hope the House just punts and goes home until the next congress takes over. But then I guess the African communist Ubama and the rat newsrooms would blame the Republicans for sending America over the "fiscal cliff".
“PS - stay away from SS - losing issue, unless you restrict it to people in country minimum of 10 years.”
Screw the young! We got ours!
OH MY! Methinks you forgot the sarcasm tag :)/s
So when you don’t deal with the house it can still be called a budget?
It can be called anything Minitrue wants to call it.
They can all just KMA and BIH.
Nope. SS needs to be fixed. As it is, all the non-boomer generations have greater debt loads, higher taxes and lower compensation that boomers received.
Who’s going to pay for it all? Not us.
I hope you are right.
Getting rid of illigals child tax credits would be great.
According to the Wash Post they voted NO to their own raise.
Lotsa luck with that....
The eight who voted ‘nay’ are:
Bennet (D-CO)
Carper (D-DE)
Grassley (R-IA)
Harkin (D-IA)
Lee (R-UT)
Paul (R-KY)
Rubio (R-FL)
Shelby (R-AL)
Three didn’t vote:
DeMint (R-SC)
Kirk (R-IL)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
I’m disgusted both my senators (Alexander and Corker) voted ‘yea’. I had hope for Corker since he raised cain all day. Shoulda known he’d turn around and let us down.
wow.
I have zero hope for the GOP after this, none.
seriously?
How about restrict it to those who are citizens?
There are about 2 TEA Partiers in the Senate and about 22 in the House.
I’m not surprised at all, that the GOP would rant and rave for our benefit and then cave completely.
How much does SSN add to deficit?
Tax cuts are permanent
I’m not surprised either, to be honest. But it would have been nice if just ONCE they’d followed through; done the right thing.
Too much to expect.

If you haven’t read this, you should.
Watch the numbers.
“In Fiscal Year 2011, the federal government collected $2.303 trillion in tax revenue.”
“Interest on the debt that year totaled $454.4 billion,”
That means that around 19.7 percent of the budget is eaten up by debt interest. The US is not yet bankrupt, yet. But we are getting there. It would be like earning 50k a year before taxes and paying some 15k in credit card interest alone.
“mandatory spending totaled $2,025 billion. In sum, mandatory spending plus debt interest totaled $2.479 trillion exceeding total revenue by $176.4 billion.”
Supposing Obama froze government spending to 2012 levels, we are still spending about 108 percent of the current budget based on mandatory spending alone. That’s a deficit of 8 percent. Not great but manageable.
“For Fiscal Year 2012 which just ended 37 days ago, that shortfall increased 43% to $251.8 billion.”
That’s a deficit of close to 12 percent. Unsustainable. That’s BEFORE all the discretionary spending.
“they could cut the entirety of the Federal Governments discretionary budget no more military, SEC, FBI, EPA, TSA, DHS, IRS, etc. and they would still be in the hole by a quarter of a trillion dollars.”
And that’s just the way things are now! SS and other entitlements are predicted to expand at twice the rate of inflation.
The young people are fucked. We are going to get crushed by either entitlements or debt. Or both.
I understand the budget. I have read the article. SSN is a losing argument because it is the ONE entitlement not adding to the deficit now. It is not expected too until 2030 or so depending on which numbers you are looking at. Medicare is a huge drain. Military also has to be cut if we are serious about reduction.
What a farce our Government has become.

We have the Whorehouse Quartet
Bone-head
Obama
The Senate
The ‘Supreme Sandwich’ Court
We are going to take hits.
“Checkmate” is immigration.
The House needs to dump Bone-head before we can even begin to have serious leadership. Otherwise, he’s going to mess everything up, make the GOP look like blundering ogres who ‘only love the rich’, lose key votes anyway, and then he would happiliy cave on immigration like Briar Rabbbit in the thorn patch. That, I believe, is Bone-head’s objective. But he has to demoralize us first. We’s a worm growing in our belly.
“Wes” no, HE is a worm growing in our belly.
Good grief. Coffee. I need coffee.
What about college research grants? Wind mill scams. Solar scams. Federal employee paychecks. Federal pensions. No you go straight to the military rather than the bloated bureaccracy and pork.
Yeah, they’re from my state. Not good. Get ready for the AWB. These guys will roll over like beagles. We are past the ballot box. God bless you freezers one and all.
Amen. Spot on. Liberals, liberalism, and Obama are vulnerable, more vulnerable than it appears.
I mean what the news media decrees then that is what is done. the media came up with this “fiscal cliff” bs and all the stupid public and all the stupid Senators vote to avoid this great cliff. does anyone know how we are going over some cliff? do any of them ? NO. Well a handful of Senators didn't , Rubio among them has sense but that is abysmal. there is no damn cliff. just don't vote for that stupid deal so what would we fall of some cliff? NO.

Not to the people who are paying into it. Young people. Again, you’re assuming that a policy is a loser policy because the takers > makers.
I hope you’re not one of those ‘lockbox’ people. There is no ‘lockbox’ it’s been spent. Everything that boomers have contributed has already been spent on stuff for boomers.
What is happening now, is that as boomers retire - their children and grandchildren are footing the bill. Only your children and grandchildren make about as much as your grandparents did. We get a considerable percentage of our income taken off, no matter how much we make, to pay for Social security. For me last year, it worked out to be close to 20 percent of my earnings. And I make about 10k a year.
Meaning - we don’t have the money - because boomers won’t hire us for the positions that make a significant amount of money - and because Boomers insist on credentialism for entry level positions. If you don’t spend x number of years in school - you won’t even be considered.
There’s simply not enough of us out there to pay for all the boomer retirement benefits, not when it takes 5 of us to pay for one of your jobs, and the retirement ratio is approaching 2:1.
SS reform is inevitable. The choice we have at present is how that reform is to take place. What are folks like me supposed to think, when we are having 20 percent of our paychecks taken to pay for people who make more money than we ever had in our life? Social Security takes from the people who have little money (younger folks), and pays it to the section that is the most well off.
I thought you were imitating Hillary’s no ways tired lingo. Happy New year Arthur.
