Anyone who has ever watched SEC football knows that Spurrier encourages brutal hits on opposing teams. Football is a rough game.. but how many times has SC (and Florida before them) eeked out a game after an opposing team QB, RB, or WR gets injured?

If there are no Clemson Tigers up for the Heisman next season then we all want Clowney just for the sheer entertainment value of his acceptance speech.

Not nearly as many times and Saban's Steroid Boys have...

That said, having watched the video, Clowney clearly had his head up.

Take off the Crimson Colored glasses and you could see for yourself.

I have seen that video probably ten times... each time, I laugh harder. You know, I watch football now and when I hear a “Key and Peele” sounding football name.. I howl. Jadeveon Clowney is absolutely perfect sounding! Hugs, Mom

The mark wasn’t at the stick.

It wasn’t a first down if it wasn’t “at the stick”

Been all over the web and the only consensus is that 1st down is if the nose of the ball is past the last link of the chain, not at the sticks.

The last link of the chain is the stick. Doesn’t matter though your team lost

Nay nay my friend, on both points.

First, the Gamecocks scored on a bomb the VERY NEXT PLAY, so the hit absolutely changed the game around.

Second, Clowney’s head was UP, he saw what he hit, and he immediately had the presence of mind to see the ball pop out and where it was, and he picked it up in a split second. NONE of that would be possible if the head had been down, and the helmet used as the weapon, which is what the penalty in the NFL is about.

Not saying a ref might not have called it, but the no call was the proper call on the hit.

but even my husband, son-in-law and I agreed that the first down call that clearly wasn’t was a horrible call,

U of M fan here too and I couldn't believe that call either........

As for the tackle, just wow!
