I don’t understand this love affair with Molon Lave.
Spartans held Thermopylae for three days, they were ultimately annihilated.
Not here to defend Molon Labe...I have never uttered the phrase. Just spreading information...
The saying is along the same lines of heston saying “I’ll give you my gun when you pry (or take) it from my cold, dead hands”...
“Spartans held Thermopylae for three days, they were ultimately annihilated.”
They knew they would be annihilated, it was a suicide mission. They purchased time for Athenian navy to deploy and for the rest of the Greek city-states to prepare, and the example of their resistance to the point of death inspired the rest of the Greeks to overcome the Persians.
Because the 300 Spartans, and their allies, resisted even while knowing they would be annihilated, their families back home were not annihilated or enslaved to the Persians. They demonstrated that when free men are willing to lose their lives before their freedom, tyrants will not win.
Retire your Gadsden screen name immediately, because it bears too much resemblence to the moniker of the flag of patriotism.
