Open source house design community WikiHouse demonstrated their construction system at Milan Design Week, providing a visual update on the project. Their goal is to make it possible for anyone to download and print a timber structure using a CNC milling machine, and then fit the pieces together to build an affordable house ready for cladding, wiring, insulation and plumbing...

Doesn’t matter, the government will not allow the private sector to create affordable housing. They’ll use building codes or whatever they have to, to ensure that housing remains inherently expensive to serve the obsolete special interests, and to provide a role for the government to subsidize housing.

These are small and simple structures. Conventional framing in this application is easier, quicker and potentially stronger. This is not an ideal application for CNC.

it’s not “printed” it’s milled from dimensional lumber not “timber”.

No need for a CNC machine, the project shown in the pictures could be done with a router, by hand.

I remember my dad saying that plastic pipe was against code in Chicago; it's too easy to install, and put the union plumbers out of work.
