Camp 14: Total Control Zone (Must see Documentary on where America is heading)

I just paused a documentary that I am watching on NetFlix, Camp 14: Total Control Zone, so that I can get the word out on FR that this is a must see documentary. It has subtitles, and it isn't filled with action packed adventure. But hang in there if you are a true patriot. It will make your blood boil. It is the story of Shin Dong-hunk who was born in a North Korean forced labor camp. He escaped at age 23.

This isn't an old story, it happened in the last decade. This continues today. It is the only way to implement socialism/communism. Camp 14 had up to 40,000 prisoners. There are regular beatings and executions. I can only assume that there are multiple camps in North Korea like this.

Shin describes his life in explicit terms. His mother and brother were executed when he was 14. He did not shed a tear, as he was so conditioned by the North Korean state. His earliest memory, when he was about four, was a public execution.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat; History; Society; TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: communism; documentary; evil; northkorea; socialism
This is a true story of pure evil with parallels in own lives today. From doctors and teachers that what children to inform on the legitimate behaviors of their parents, to the only methods, including torture and execution, to make people to comply with the socialist edicts of government.

Watch this with your family. Educate your children. Fight evil.

Obama has called it his favorite family film. “A wondrous fantasy of total state control.”

I didn’t see the documentary, but I did read his story a year or two ago. Incredible.

I saw it, but thought the National Geographic: Inside North Korea was a much better documentary.

The young man has an incredible story to tell, but in my opinion, they sucked the emotional impact out of the story with some poor production decisions.

The majority of the film is him telling his story in a low, soft, emotionless monotone...with incredibly long pauses in between his thoughts where the camera just stares at him...total silence...again and again. Unnecessarily purposely uncomfortable

The cartoon artist renderings of hellish camp life seemed awkward and inappropriate for the subject matter. And then suddenly someone else is being interviewed, but they don't tell you who it is...you have to figure it out on your own.

It got better towards the end when he began making speeches. But overall, I felt like, in the hands of a different producer this amazing story could have been told to a much greater impact.

It struck me as a lost opportunity.

I won't say that it won't happen here. I will say, "Not in my life."

Not in my life either. Molon Labe.

My children, 15 and 18 years old, are also prepared as well to hold the line (our weapons) so this evil never happens here.

That may sound extreme, but knowing history, we are confident it is not as extreme as the mass murder of tens of millions of people in the last century.

Peace be with you.

Well, now that my parents are gone, I can admit that I was indeed beaten with a paddle back in 7th grade when I swore at granny Smith, my English teacher.........

So I guess the tyranny is indeed catching on.....

I agree, but I am willing to look past a poor production and let my imagination run. Perhaps I read too much, but when I read a subtitled film, my imagination fills in a lot of details that are not on the upper half of the screen.

The bottom line is this story needs to be told, and told better. It is pure evil and we need to know how to identify evil or be sucked into it as so many nations have in the past.

Perhaps Sgt., you have a story of evil that you can share from Vietnam, given the brief info in your profile. By the end of the film, I was wondering where in Asia there was any good if it wasn’t for the influence of America, England, France or Portugal.
