A college degree was, financially at least, the biggest mistake of my life. I got a degree in Business Administration and Accounting and graduated owing a ton in student loans. Today I'm in middle management and making around $50k a year. However, my two best friends from high school skipped college, one took night classes in Heating/AC Repair at the local Vo-Tech center, and another got a pipe-fitter apprenticeship. Today the Heating/AC Repair guy owns his own business and brings in about $80K a year. The Pipe-fitter friend made over $100K last year...

You are quite right IMHO.
A majority of those getting college degrees now would be better served if they went to a (legitimate) trade school.
Sadly, trade schools themselves have become part if the federal education racket.
