‘Shelton resident Alphonse Sabetta has been named by the department as a a local Korean War 60th Anniversary Ambassador. Sabetta is making plans to distribute the certificates April 16, at the Shelton American Legion Post 16 to all Korean War Veterans from Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour and Shelton.”

“Sign-up registration will be available to any Legion or VFW Post in the five communities.”

At first glance I thought the honors would be nationwide but they are limited. My husband served 3 tours in Korea but we don’t live in the districts named in the article.

Thanks for your service, Korean War vets! Had a number of uncles who served during that time.

In TV sitcoms, dad or grandpa, or the friendly character like Sam on Andy Griffith could be a Korean war vet, but not a Vietnam war vet, that has remained true to this day.
