Spare a thought for people in Russia. Its the coldest winter since 1938. Temperatures may hit -25 in Moscow this weekend. They have already hit -50C in Siberia. Twenty-one people froze to death in one day. (See the Telegraph photo gallery)
Down to -50C: Russians freeze to death as strongest-in-decades winter hits
Russian Times
Russia is enduring its harshest winter in over 70 years, with temperatures plunging as low as -50 degrees Celsius. Dozens of people have already died, and almost 150 have been hospitalized.
The country has not witnessed such a long cold spell since 1938, meteorologists said, with temperatures 10 to 15 degrees lower than the seasonal norm all over Russia.
Across the country, 45 people have died due to the cold, and 266 have been taken to hospitals. In total, 542 people were injured due to the freezing temperatures, RIA Novosti reported.
The Moscow region saw temperatures of -17 to -18 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
Over the weekend, meteorologists predict temperatures will plunge even lower in the Moscow region, hitting -25. The Russian capital is also expected to be swept with snow, RIA Novosti reported.
Temperatures have been 7 degrees lower than the norm for five days already, which is considered an anomaly, according to the Meteonovosti.ru website
Apparently some Circus trainers thought it was a good idea to feed Vodka to their elephants and swear it saved them from the Siberian cold. Though doctors are warning that alcohol is a bad plan for people
h/t William Happer (who is in Siberia) and Gordon Fulks who passed on the message. Darren Porter too. Thank you!

It’s suppose to be 70 degrees in Charleston, West Virginia this Saturday and Sunday, we might break a record. The Russians can keep their -50 degrees....
You don’t really have to go to Siberia to get minus 50 degress celsius. Mostly if you’re flying at >41,000 feet the temperature goes lower than that that you better be sure your anti ice working. :-)
Warmish here in Southern Michigan but nothing like last winter and a January warm spell is nothing unusual.
Soon the upper US States will experience similar conditions as that huge mass of super cold air moves down from the Arctic ocean.
-50C is -58F. We used to do that in the Dakotas and sometimes Maine. I’m pretty sure SAC thought the bombers needed the cold to run properly. Too bad they don’t have LL Bean in Siberia.

Not just the upper US, we’re looking at hard freezes for a week in Tucson. Nasty nasty weather coming down on us.
Supposedly 42 degrees here.
The past summer itself was rather cool, we rarely got above 80.
Yet it’s all global warming.
Which somehow produces bitter cold, unseasonable temps, dandelions, the flu, ninjas, meter maids, Mayan Apocalypses and acne.
Understand. I visit AccuWeather a few times a day. That old jet stream will dip pretty low to give you folks a bit of the cold shoulder as well. :)
Should make for some awesome football weather this weekend... to watch on TV.
Old man winter taint so gentle with the folks in Siberia. Then again he was not so kind a few weeks back when parts of Alaska and the Yukon Territory had -50F readings in some parts.
Enjoy the games.
Has anyone posted that it’s so hot it’s cold yet?
In related news, Death Valley, USA, is hot in July...
Siberia, the ultimate Al Gore Climate change goal.
A foot of snow in Lebanon yesterday.
China Historic Cold Creates Massive Inflation In Vegetable Prices
Food prices already rising due to the new ice age.
Temperature drops 2deg.Celsius per thousand feet. This is just a rough estimate. Some books state 2.5 and some state 3.0
I remember reading history and how the Germans had to cope with General Winter fighting in Russia.
Some books says? I get the wind aloft chart daily during my airline tenure I think they're the same it never changed... :-)
We are continuing to have record cold weather in California from San Diego to the Oregone border.
Of course this realty will be ignored by the Gorebull Warmer Mediots and politicians.
Below are links re the record cold weather which may last until the end of this week.

It got up to 50* today after a low of 26 in Benderville this morning...
Was in Walnut Creek this morning to do a boundary survey. There was a steady 38 degree wind out of the northeast, very nasty.
I was setup in a dirt road between two houses, about 20 feet wide, and fenced on both sides. I look up the road to the northeast, and there are about 5 or six coastal deer of varying size, both does and two bucks, one fully grown (big) and a yearling, marching steadily toward us.
We were downwind so they couldn’t get our scent, but they obviously could see us, and they kept coming until they were about 10 feet from us and stopped. It became obvious that they were there to feed on the plentiful shrubery, and they were oblivious to our presence. I felt like I was at the north pole, and Santa’s herd had us surrounded. :o)
When we were flying down to Peru in November, the external temperature shown on the video screen varied between -50 and -60, and that was even as we crossed the equator.
Back in the ‘60s we used to expect a January warm spell in the mid 70s here in the Bay Area, but rarely see one anymore.
We had 60 degrees here in Michigan the other day but were back down into the teens.
Yesterday morning, when we woke up a little before dawn, there was no frost on anything. However, when the late night sky went to clear blue as the sun rose, heavy frost appeared everywhere.
We still had frost/ice on our backyard at 3 pm yesterday. We don’t get a lot of winter sun due to the position of the house and trees for summer.
This morning it is colder and frost was on my Ridgeline and in our backyard before dawn.
“I was setup in a dirt road between two houses, about 20 feet wide, and fenced on both sides. I look up the road to the northeast, and there are about 5 or six coastal deer of varying size, both does and two bucks, one fully grown (big) and a yearling, marching steadily toward us.”
The bucks up here in wino country after the rut will separate from the does until the next rutting season.
We have this Amazon Doe in our area, which will chase away the younger bucks from this time of the year until a month or so before the rut. This past week, she looked like an all pro linebacker chasing the younger bucks away. She hit one so hard in our unfenced back yard, she knocked him down. When he staggered back up, she charged him again until he left.
There is a herd that lives at Rossmore’s golf course that never separates too. I had my jacket pocket picked by a huge buck there that wanted my apple.
The Rossmore herd usually have a deep thick fur coat, almost like an elk.
There is a woman in Orinda that was attacked by a large doe, and she wrote to Gary Bogue about it. He tried to tell her that it had to be a buck, and does just don’t behave that way. Urbanization seems to confuse the deer.

.
Common. It happens because the temperature is still dropping until a little after sunrise. We rise at 4:00 normally, and take a 2 mile walk, and have noticed the formation of frost as we are walking fairly often.
Temps in the teens used to be a rare event here, but over the last 20 years or so it has become part of the show.
Frost buildup as I drive, on the leading edge of the radio antennas of my cherokees, seems to be getting fairly common.
-13 at my house this morning. This globull warming is damned cold!
Global cooling in Oceanside, CA. Coldest since we moved here in ‘04.
We were flying above Hawaii just about to begin decend to kHNL (ground OAT below >80 F) at 41,000 feet the outside air temperature was minus 65 celsius. I did hear air report at minus 70 at same altitude. If temperature up there goes that low up there then no such thing as anthropogenic global warming.
There is no such thing as warming of any kind.
We have been cooling since 1934.
Global warming is about hurting the US economically. Obama's EPA is shutting down electric plants and electric rates are going to sky rocket. WHY? Because Obama is not working for us, he is working against us.
Haven't you noticed food prices soaring at the grocery store? Don't believe a thing the Gubermint tells us, they are lying. They are working for a traitor.
