First Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell proposes the elimination of the state gas tax, then Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal calls for wiping out all state income and corporate taxes. Now Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin is talking about reducing income taxes in his state, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

I can't wait for these three states to enact these cuts and then sit back and watch their states thrive. Thus rendering the lefts mantra of more government/taxes as being necessary. Hopefully more states will follow suit when they see the money start rolling in.

Bad news: Zero will take credit. And the people of this country will buy it.

Nebraska’s governor is talking about eliminating the income tax, as well, and also freezing tuition at state schools.

The Democrats will, naturally, fight against tax cuts tooth and nail. But the rats have already proved themselves pathetic losers in Wisconsin, so now is a good time to rub their soiled panties in their own noses.

Scott Walker definitely looks like presidential timber to me.

The proposal in Virginia is not as clear cut as presented here. The Governor is proposing to replace the gas tax with an increase in the sales tax of .8 per cent and an increase in vehicle registration fees.

I guess the question that needs to be asked, what’s the higher of them?

I know in places like NY, if you eliminated the gas tax, you’d be saving those folks tons of money as a good portion of their fuel costs are taxes.

Meanwhile....Here in NYS....94 new taxes were added last year.

I'm sure they can beat that record in 2013.

My folks seem to be stuck up there and they’re getting crushed. Hopefully, they’ll be able to sell their house and move down South soon.

I can't say for sure, but I suspect the new taxes will increase revenue more than the gas tax repeal will reduce it. For example, if a typical two earner, two car family uses 1000 gallon of gas a year the gas tax would be $170. If they spent $40,000 subject to the higher sales tax (probably low estimate)the .8 tax would generate $320, plus whatever the higher registration fees would gather.
