Can anyone name the countries that sent aid to the United States after Hurricane Sandy?
I am asking this because I got an e-mail from a friend that I am trying to fact check. Here it is ...
As you know, America is always the first country to send aid to other countries when they are in trouble. It is highly appropriate that we Americans, must now send our "THANKS" to all those countries that reciprocated our help with their disasters, misgivings, social turmoil, & poverty when they returned to the USA monetary and physical help after Hurricane Sandy 2012 ravaged our East Coast leaving behind many dead people, the massive destruction, the countless homelessness and pure disaster in the east.
We have listed all the Countries and World Organizations below that are giving us their gracious assistance. Please assist is in thanking these entities by passing on this email so people all over America can join in and THANK our many neighbors, to whom this nation has invested BILLIONS and BILLIONS!!!!
Can you guess who is on the list?
That's right - the first country to respond was.....................
NOBODY !! - NOT ONE - NADA - NILL - NON - NUN - NYE Maybe now Americans will realize that charity should begin at home.
With millions of our own country people in need and in poverty, let's save our money and spend it at home instead of sending it to Egypt , Libya , Pakistan , etc........
Staten Island and parts of New Jersey would gladly thank America if we spent the billions of dollars there that originally came from my pocket and yours...... oh yeah - THANK YOU FOR SENDING THIS ON !!!
Lemme guess. Saudi Arabia with strings attached?
Israel sent a relief mission. Perhaps there were others.
Thanks for the information.
I wonder if they were officially thanked by the Obama administration or even the Governors of NY and NJ....
I can’t figure out why someone with a bit of money does not put out the word that they will give $150.00 per gun. They can then resell them. And no one will sell there guns to the state.
“Iran’s Red Crescent is prepared to help the victims in the US,” said Mahmoud Mozaffar, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s Relief and Rescue Organization.
Question — Is the Iranian Red Crescent a PRIVATE charity like the Red Cross, or are they affiliated with the Iranian Government? (I’d be very surprise if the GOVERNMENT of Iran volunteered to help).
RE: I cant figure out why someone with a bit of money does not put out the word that they will give $150.00 per gun.
Are you sure you are in the right thread?
Nope- wrong thread. My mistake.
My guess is that nothing happens in Iran without an OK from the powers that be in Tehran. The irrationality of the Iranian government is greatly overestimated- everybody wants to make PR points.
Our poor people are fat... Other countries really don’t need to help us.
Official help from the Israeli government was declined, so they assisted through NGO’s.
When they heard non union electricians couldn’t volunteer, some of the countries were afraid they would have to join a union in order to help?
Believe it or not:
There are plenty of articles about Israel’s relief mission though. They did a heck of a lot.
RE: Official help from the Israeli government was declined, so they assisted through NGOs.
Why on earth would we decline it?
And if it went via NGO’s, I am sure other countries might have gone that route too, if so, does anyone know which country participated?
it was a CAT ONE... get over it and rebuild.
seriously, wtf. yes, some houses got flooded and some were washed away. yes, there was flood damage. you didn’t prepare properly or observe proper building codes to insure a 10-20 ft storm surge wouldn’t wreck your stuff
come to Florida and see how much attention a cat one gets from the fedgov and other countries.
I remember after 911 an African tribe sent us cattle. Probably a goodly percentage of the tribes worth as they account for it. Stand up folks.
India Takes Over NASA’s Defunct Satellite to Track Sandy
November 2, 2012
Ocean surface winds for Hurricane Sandy observed at 9:00 p.m. PDT Oct. 28 by the OSCAT radar scatterometer on the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) OceanSat-2 satellite.

NASA and weather and climate scientists all over the world have been receiving help from Indias Space Applications Center (SAC) to track Hurricane Sandy. The Indian Space Research Organizations OSCAT radar scatterometer, which travels on board its OceanSat-2 satellite, has been sending valuable image data at near-real time to NASA and NOAA.
OSCAT, designed and developed at SAC, Ahmedabad, is similar to the now defunct QuikSCAT satellite from NASA. Since QuikSCAT ceased operations in 2009, engineers and scientists from NOAA, JPL and NASA have worked with ISRO to validate and calibrate OSCAT measurements to ensure seamless coverage of ocean vector winds, critical for the global climate weather forecasting field.
ISROs OceanSat-2, together with NASAs Cloudsat satellite and Aqua and Terra spacecraft, played a critical role in helping track Superstorm Sandy.

You mean, like Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Alsaud (2001-10-11)?
