Most rushing yards by a quarterback, game: 183, Colin Kaepernick 1-12-2013. Game still in progress.
Game over. He had a great game. But he can’t beat Seahawks.
The Niners now have their quarterback of the future.
I hope Alex Smith will like it in Arizona.
I don't think the Seahawks will win a second time around. Friendly wager deweyfrank??
Just damn good football in both games. I guess it was Underdog Saturday since both underdogs won.
Grats to the Niners - we're now one step closer to a season finale Harbaugh Bowl! Go Ravens!!
What’s the difference between Kaepernick and Steve Young? Young was really the first of the “running quarterbacks” when he started out in the league.
Now, not at all.
Since Friscans have made the choice to change the once-and-former "City" into such a (figurative and literal) urinal, I want their sports teams to lose.
I am only conflicted when they play the Raiders (whom I also used to support).
.
He’s a wonderful young man!
GO Niners!
He won’t have to he will have to beat the Falcons.
A lot of rookies would have folded after he threw the Pick 6, at the beginning of the game...I was very impressed with his poise....looks like the Niners have found their QB of the future.
Hopefully Alex Smith can catch on with another team, I know Arizona sure could use him.
Seattle will beat the Dirty Birds handily.
We shall see. The Falcons are due.
They’re due......to choke yet again.
Kaepernick is a more accurate passer than young at this stage of his career. Young was very raw when he first joined the niners and developed his skills while waiting for Joe Montana to leave.
Bobby Douglass, who played for the Bears in the early 1970s, was a big strong kid who did a lot of running. Ran for close to 1,000 yards one year (in a 14-game season).
Fran Tarkenton, who played int he '60s and '70s, didn't run as much, but he was quite the scrambler.
As a Bears fan, “I say bravo! Bravo!” :D
I thought going in Seattle and the Niners were the two best teams in the NFC.
And Russell Wilson is the reincarnation of Fran Tarkenton.
Running quarterbacks, especially when they are young, always seem like they are ready to upset the way football is played. Watching Kaepernick tonight certainly made me feel that way.
But true running quarterbacks also wear out fast - and I think of Michael Vick. (Kaepernick is also a better passer than Vick though). Look what happened to RGIII - will he play the same way next year?
Anyway - it is cranking now, and CK and 49’ers look unbeatable this year.
Seattle may win, but the mainstream sports media echo chamber has been greatly underestimating the Falcons. The Seahawks are going to have to play their best to have a chance. A repeat of their Redskins performance probably loses the game for them.
Like I said before we shall see. Based on the last meeting it won’t be handily either way. You don’t have clemons and Matty Ice has a good record at home. It will be a Good game and as a life long suffering Falcons fan I will not miss a minute of it.
Never has a 13-3 team had less respect than the Falcons have received from the media big mouths.
The Falcons are just like the Braves, perennial post-season failures.
I agree. It would be a great rematch. I have Seattle to win the Superbowl in a preseason poll. They were what I was left with. So, I admit I am biased. LOL Go EAGLES next year!
The Niners have had one of the best defenses for the past few years. Now they have the quarterback that were missing.
Yes I remember Booby Douglass well, since I lived in Chicago during all his years and the superbowl winners with the refrigerator Perry, Payton, & coach Ditka. Bobby was built like a full back with speed. As exciting as he was, Bears did not win many games with him at QB.
But the most excitement for me was the 6 time win by the Bulls with MJ & Pippin. No team in ANY sport will match that string of championships and electric excitement of that era in any city. I have not seen any player with the jump shot accuracy from outside the zone. That shot was impossible to defend.
Best of luck TinCan. See Post 27.
I am in Seattle now so obviously a fan, but there is sense of impending doom in my head for tomorrow’s game. Seahawks are a young team and some key players are injured. But I will say this, it will not be a boring game.
DISAPPOINTED!!!
We’ll see. We’re hoping replacing coordinators Mike Mularkey and Brian van Gorder with Dirk Koetter and Mike Nolan will make all the difference. So far so good.
How many games did he play this year? Or last? This is the first time I have seen him in action, so I don't know his record.
With San Francisco’s offensive line, it’s not like Kaepernick has to run that much, they can be effective enough just handing it off to Gore.
There are some highly talented and entertaining players on both teams. Should be an good show for neutral fans.
No way in hell the 49’s regret not taking Rodgers. The Packers looked and played like amateurs. Stole their fat paychecks. Same with the Packers coaches. A rookies QB beat the crap out of GB. The Packers have gone from SB champs 3 seasons ago to NFL laughingstock. They embarrassed themselves and GB in front of a national audience. Packer fans should greet the team with bags over their heads when they return to GB. If they don’t, the Packer honchos will take it as a sign that they don’t have to improve the team. Capers and McCarthy need to be canned. Both were way overrated, even when the Packers won the SB.
Just imagine what kind of numbers Johnny Manziel could put up in the NFL!
The Niners built their team the right way....you start and end with the offensive line....if I have the best offensive line in the league, I am guaranteed to win at least 8 games, no matter who I have at quarterback and the other “skilled” positions.
Seattle is a fine team but they were more than just a litle helped by playing in CenturyLink Field last time. The crowd gets real noisy there when the opposing team is on offense and it is virtually impossible for a quarterback to be heard beyond about six feet away. If the Seahawks play the Niners again, they won’t have that advantage next time... Plus I’d imagine the Niners are pretty pissed off and looking to avenge that loss. So I’m not so sure you should be counting your chickens there dewyfrank!!! Don’t forget that San Fran has a pretty good team also. You might ask Green Bay and the Patriots if the Niners are a quality team.
Then Gore will run for 200 yards against them.....when you have the Niners' offensive line, stopping anyone is easier said than done.
Manziel, at 6’ 1’’ is borderline in terms of size for the NFL, Kaepernick is 6’ 5”.
He has been getting better every week, and is making fewer mistakes lately.
Wilson has also improved with each week, that’s what makes a Seattle-Niners rematch so intriguing. Both are fun to watch.
Brees is 6’ 0”. Since many NFL teams are supposedly uninterested in Manziel despite the Heisman, it might be interesting to see if the Saints pick him up when he finally goes pro.
Yes, maybe Seattle did have a slight advantage at home against SF. But they kicked ass big time. And if Seattle wins tomorrow, going back to the West Coast to play next week will seem like another home game to them. And I’m not counting my chickens. I’m just rooting for my pocketbook. LOL
Brees isn’t considered a running quarterback.
What bugs me about tomorrow is that prediction from that libtard Nate (Mr. “I predicted Obama’s election wins...twice!”) Silver which said Seattle was going all the way and win the Super Bowl. Can you say “kiss of death”? I knew you could.
The Niners built their team the right way....you start and end with the offensive line....if I have the best offensive line in the league, I am guaranteed to win at least 8 games, no matter who I have at quarterback and the other skilled positions.
The O line is important. Rodgers had the crap beat out of him this season. I’m surprised he hasn’t had a career ending injury. But they need a defense badly. They had no defense whatsoever tonight, even with the vaunted returns of Clay Matthews and Charles Woodson. If I were Rodgers, I would try to get out of GB. The rest of his career will go nowhere as long as he stays with them.
