"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, and one more safeguard against tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible." -Hubert H. Humphrey-bitter clinger;Guns magazine, February 1960, p.6

I think calling one gun “more dangerous” over another sort of plays into their hand. Bad idea.

Cannon, switchblade knife, sexy rifle, shotgun, sword - What do all of these things have in common? All are arms, and all are protected by the 2nd. I don’t think anyone should barter their rights away; once lost, they are very hard to take back.

Any firearm in the hands of John Kerry is especially dangerous:

Comparing apples and oranges...
Either way “shall not be infringed” seems clear to me.

NEVER let them know what caliber a 12 ga. is.

12 is way smaller than 30 or 45

I’m with you about never letting them know about this. Honestly, I’ve never thought this could possibly be an effective line of reasoning with them.

Quick test: If you were a gun-grabber, what would YOU conclude if I told you a Ruger ranch rifle was almost exactly the same as an AR-15?

A. Gee, I didn’t know that. We better leave those AR’s alone since they’re basically the same as other popular rifles.

B. Gee, that’s scary. Better ban them all.

We should be discussing a comparison to the size and velocity of a pitched baseball.

Fleet Farm is my favorite store - hands down. Now, they even top themselves. They have everything I need for sale - except their principles and patriotism.

No, we shouldn't. This sort of argument totally specious. The 2nd amendment doesn't say we only have rights to own just the guns approved by an autocratic government. It's circular logic. The autocratic government is why we own guns.

Our argument should ONLY and ALWAYS be based on one single premise, the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution. Any differences in firearm effectiveness are none of their damn business and completely irrelevant.

Here. Here. Even if the Libs were to limit the rounds in a magazine to less then 10 rounds, it only means that the shooter will have to reload faster for the same effect.

That's my point.

Change the subject away from gun related talk as that is immutable.

In fact we should be pushing to make suppressors completely legal to help save our collective hearing and make 0bamaCare less costly (no, wait... that's wrong too).

Anyone familiar with Scruggs Farm? They seem like a decent place.

UKistan & Aussiestan banned all magazine shotguns IIRC.

Watch for demand for ban on 870 mag extensions next.

soon to be patented
