Yes, indeed. It opened a helpful discussion between my daughter and my oldest grandson, however. GS is a college sophomore (living in a cold part of the country) and they had a productive discussion about not leaving friends until you know they are inside and safe and not walking on “frozen” creeks. You can’t have too many of those discussions with your kids, IMHO

Queen of the Embezzlers -- Sujata Sachdeva. Serving 11 years for embezzling 4.5 million $$$ from the Koss Corp. in Milwaukee. She also lost her house, cars, jewelry, furs, and husband. There are still people being sent to jail from this because some of the people charged with selling her belongings (federal auction) embezzled from her goods.

Emergency crews pull a yellow bag from Cedar Creek in Cedarburg and load it onto a stretcher around 3:45 p.m. Friday.

We had about 4 days of 45 degree temps over the weekend. It's 9 degrees this AM. I can't post the picture of all the orange Xs on the ice from a few days before where the teams were searching because that picture was from a newspaper that does not put their content on line. But, that is the difference of a few days -- the ice looks solid (but is not), then it's a little slushy, then it is free flowing water. RIP

BTW, they found one of the other missing men over the weekend and it was revealed that he had bi-polar disorder. The mentally challenged girl is still missing, as is the other 24 year old.

Oh yeah! Jewels, gold, crystal, chandeliers, designer dresses, furs, art, furniture. They had a big auction of her belongings here in town which didn’t raise a fraction of what she stole. The list in the newspaper went on for pages.

The odd thing about this crime is that her hubby is a prominent surgeon, and she held down a $300,000 job as VP, comptroller, etc. at Koss. They were on the boards of several different institutions (such as local colleges) and she could always be counted on to raise millions $$$ for whatever charity ball that she was heading.

Several people have gone to jail over her shenanigans — mainly because they never blew the whistle on her. They covered her tracks for a cut of a couple of thousand $$$.

I think 11 years was a slap on the wrist — even though she lost everything, including her marriage. The big question is where was Koss? Didn’t they notice that $4.5 million was missing?

I don’t leave the front of the house until I see kids safely inside the front door when I do drop-offs.

That’s how my dad raised me and the rule I always followed and taught my kids. But I was amazed at how many parents did not follow those rules when I was raising my kids. You’ve got to be sure that the dropee has his/her key, after all.

When I became a parent, I was shocked at how so many parents abrogated their roles completely. It hasn’t gotten any better as the kids age. It just makes me tighten the reins on my friends’ kids because someone needs to step up.

BTW, there is a designer dress shop here that devoted a whole storeroom for dresses Sachdeva had purchased but couldn’t take home because there was no more storage at her house, or her office. This particular store (which has ugly, overpriced clothes, IMHO) is rumored to have Mafia connections. Oprah’s mother got in trouble there — either shoplifting, or failure to pay for purchases. Can’t remember.
