Whenever the subject turns to the details of the federal budget, most citizens go into snooze mode. However, I have an idea for a reality show which in contrast to most reality shows which are either annoying (Kardashians) or laughable (Amish Mafia) would actually be performing a public service in terms of making the public aware of budget details as well as entertaining.
Here is how the "OM WannaB" show would work. Four participants would be chosen from those who would want the power of the head of the Office of Management and Budget. Each of them would be given a copy of the budget (or continuing resolution since no budget has been passed by the Democrat Senate for years). They would separately go through the budget (resolution) and show what they would cut. The purpose would be to cut as much spending as possible in a way to have as little effect on services as possible. Then the four participants would take their detailed spending cut proposals to members of Congress and the Senate who would grade the rankings of each proposal in terms of feasibility. The congressional members would explain why something is or isn't feasible. The participant with the highest rankings would be the winner.
The winning proposal would then be presented to the Senate Majority Leader, the Speaker of the House, and the President.
