the NRA won this day--could the GOP please take notice? (Vanity)
Vanity | 1-16-13 | Mmzelle

The NRA advertisement was a brilliant, daring and effective challenge not only to the arrogant and overreaching president, but to the timorous Republicans and the media rabble.

Brilliant and daring because the ad committed the taboo of actually mentioning that the president has children and they deserve and require armed protection. There were many among the easily terrified Republican class who squealed in dismay, although the children were neither named nor were they, wisely, pictured.

But it was impossible to make a criticism of the ad that hit the mark clearly when Obama so tendentious lay assembled four little children as his personal shield. If he could make so exploitative a use, how could he then turn any criticism toward the NRA advertisement on the same grounds?

This is the kind of gambit that should be seized by the GOP. After all, Obama gave the NRA the opportunity that the NRA wisely wielded. He warned that he was making cynical use of these children's and dared us to do anything about it. It's a mistake he will surely make again. All the GOP has to do is watch for the next opportunity and find the courage to use it.

But the ad went a long way toward puncturing the illusion of supernatural invulnerability and superiority of this odd creature that we have so foolishly reelected. Barack Obama had a peculiar demeanor today as he spoke, listless and not at all the cock o' the walk of Monday--his face looked puffy and his skin even looked bad. Maybe he had encountered the NRA ad and the sign of defiance from an opponent left him dispirited. Remember his first debate with Romney?

It was a small thing that the NRA did, but they showed that a little courage goes a long way. Both ear should dry his eyes and take a lesson.

I think the “impeach BO” headlines on Drudge probably made him back down. After all, the Won never does anything wrong and simply can’t be impeached. I think also the massive buying of guns and the membership in the NRA expanding so rapidly must have gotten to him.

When i read the review of the EO's, my first thought was similar as you wrote.

Undoubtedly, there is an overreach by the President on half of the EO's. And possible grounds for impeachment in 1 or 2 of the orders. However, in my humble opinion, the Kenyan backed down on what could have been expected, giving the day to the NRA.

“,.....Maybe he had encountered the NRA ad and the sign of defiance from an opponent left him dispirited.....”

Wonder if he saw that “Molon labe “ sign that somebody stuck on the door of his limo?

Bwahahaha!

Anyone care to wager $$$ that the children with Ø'zero,
who were supposedly just some kids who wrote to him,are the offspring of some (D) operative or dependent?

He's used such children in a similar situation before.

America won today and so did those I love.

I am no longer worried about this Jack Wagon.

Time to buy cowboy guns.

The storm raged and the waves broke high on breakwall but I do believe that we have prevailed. The semi-auto and high cap mag ban are toast, not ever Reid wants anything to do with them. The background check thing may get passed out of the Senate but will have a tough time in the House. And Barky’s 23 executive rolls of toilet paper are just that. We’ll soon move on to the debt ceiling and sequestration and immigration and the MSM will forget about “assault rifles” and high capacity “clips”. And DiFi’s gun ban coach will once again turn in to a punkin.

But, I sure as hell won’t forget.

Call this a tactical victory by the NRA. However, the gutless, spineless, clueless RINOs and elite Republican establishment types are even now planning to sell all Americans out to this batch of Leftists and socialists/Marxist totalitarians. They want to be part of the power structure and feast on the crumbs from their masters’ table. Scumbags, all of them.

Obama desperately does not want to lose the Senate.

Reid and others have told him that another assault weapons ban will give control to the GOP in 2014.

If the GOP controls both houses, they can pass budgets, cuts and repeals that will force Obama into veto mode.

OBAMA will be on defense if this happens, not House Republicans.

It will also set the stage for a GOP victory in 2016.

It’s not the possibility of being convicted by the Debate that bothered him. It was the Discovery likely in the House. That’s his Achilles Heel.

RINO politicians need no spine. They are not our overlords or our only voice, especially if they FAIL TO SPEAK for us.

WE THE PEOPLE can speak for ourselves if need be. When tyranny is at all levels, we must!

Remember, the politicians are merely representatives either congress or senate.

WE THE PEOPLE own the Constitution and politicians SERVE us.

Good point on discovery. As an attorney, I’ve seen the opponent fold like a cheap suit when confronted with a few seemingly innocent questions. The “guilty” always have something to hide, and would much rather keep the status quo than face exposure.

Your post #30 broke the code. Well done.

Reid and the Senate Dems must have had a come to Jesus meeting with Obama.

It is obvious that Obama had something more planned, as today was a real dud.

If we win in 2014, Obama is a lame duck for the second half of his second term.

There are 20 Dems up for reelection in the Senate in 2014 and they know their constituents.

Keep up the pressure on all our state and Federal reps. a battle was won today, but the war is still in progress.

Time to buy cowboy guns.

Indeed! But only because they are the only guns left on the shelf!

Sadly, even the Fox panel tonight erupted with outrage over the great ad. We will no more watch the Fox evening news.

Our president wants totake away our rights!

No doubt about that, but which one did he take away today? None, he just huffed and puffed because he knew that he couldn't do what he wanted to do. Hold strong, the politicians are getting wobbly.

Totally right on! Freedom of speach is self defense just as the right to bear arms is self defense.

It is very heartening to see freedom supporters speaking up to the media. If we have to buy ads on tv or radio, then we must do that to get around the liberal censoship. The media and Democrats have been joined at the hip for fifty years acting as a unit. Now enough people have seen how they are conspiring against our rights and we are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore!

Fox has even hired uberleftist whacko Dennis Kuchinich. As of this day, I now view Fox as another leftist news source. That means that there exists a chance to serve a segment of the population -- those on the right -- with a new news channel.

I think the NRA’s ad was very effective. A little Alinsky(ism) in reverse.

Well done...most people, I know got it. The Pres did too and he is pissed. LOL
