Not quite worded that way, but my kids’ doctor essentially said the same thing to one of my kids.
As in Communist countries, parents who own guns are now REQUIRED to teach their kids how to lie convincingly (or not let them know you have guns).

First, at what age is the parent not allowed to stay in the room with the doc and the kid?
There must be some cleverly worded response we could teach our kids.
The only thing that comes to mind is to train the kid to immediately exit the exam room and then HOLLER down the hall:
“Hey MOM! The Doc is EFFing with the Second Amendment!”
