Well, while that was belatedly “very nice” of the Prosecuter,(heavy sarcasm)it doesn't really address the problem of an out of controll police force.

Florida doesn't have perverted “shake down” laws, such as NYs “stop and frisk” crap.

I no longer automatically assume my local LEOs are good guys doing a hard job.
I fear them now.
And I do not speed, do drugs, thieve, or knowingly commit any crime.
And I really hate that our society has devolved and reached this point.

But it has. And people need to understand that, and pick a side.

I’m happy they dropped the charges.

Can you add a link here?

The culture has become overwhelmingly infantile and amoral. That is the pool from which LEOs and military are chosen.

Those who do the choosing are overwhelming university-educated, which adds anti-Americanism to the mix.

There’s no way LEOs and military can become a repository of virtue under those conditions.

>>Something else is attached to this story that we are not being told for the officer to act like that. Perhaps a personal conflict between the two men’s families or something like that had been going on. The LEOs with whom I attend church would never have treated that man that way even when placing him under control.

Are you being serious??? If a cop is having a “family feud” with another person, then its ok for they cop to use foul and threatening language? If this was a premeditated action on the part of the cop due a family feud, then that cop needs to spend a few years in prison for terrorizing this citizen.

But, in reality, there was no feud. This was just another out of control cop with a potentially deadly “Us vs Them” mentality and he has no business carrying a gun for the government.

The sheriff was an ass...he needs retraining on dealing with the public and carry conceal laws...

There is a new law for dealing with An accidental exposure...

In Florida you do not have to inform an officer if you are carrying....when pulled over....

Though I would hand him my carry permit with my license as a courtesy...

Are you being serious???

Totally. Was trying to avoid writing another essay as to why reacting due to personal conflict as an LEO would have been wrong, but determined that was probably understood. Just searching for a reason as to why the policeman went ballistic.

Everyone involved acted stupidly.

Garbage.

The holder should have informed the cop he was carrying,

Cite the law that says he was required to do so.

and the cop should have not snapped like he did.

Way to condemn abuse of a law abiding citizen! /s

Same as always: its the gang mentality that infects many cops. If you aren’t wearing the colors of a “brother cop”, then you are the enemy.

In GA if you have a CCL you can concealed carry or open carry.

Somehow...”I'll shoot you in the fu@king back” doesn't seem the right response to the officers oath: TO SERVE, DEFENDAND AND PROTECT....

I wonder how it would have gone if the perp had followed proper procedure and 1st informed the cop....”Officer...I have a CCL and I could have blown your fu@kin head off....What can I do for ya?”

Prolly would have still ate some asphalt....

IMHO..Civility should be a 2 way street..with more civility from those that swear to >> serve defend and protect...(this isn't against law enforcement but Ive seen too many cops that have that attitude)... as an aside...had an old lawyer tell me years ago....Cops should have their penises measured before being given a badge, gun and a little authority...it would cut down on the number of power hungry little pricks on the force../s

The practicality of it is the same, then. Good.

Indiana calls it on the license, simply,

LICENSE TO CARRY HANDGUN

It is open or concealed. Our town marshall, when taking our applications said, "If you carry open, and an incident occurs where law-enforcement are about, just make sure they know whose side you are on."

Law-enforcement here is very supportive.

From the documentation at the link, it looks like the case was dropped, but the guy had to finally file a motion 5 months later to get his gun back??

Fl Stat § 790.053 Open carrying of weapons.—

(1) Except as otherwise provided by law and in subsection

(2), it is unlawful for any person to openly carry on or about his or her person any firearm or electric weapon or device. It is not a violation of this section for a person licensed to carry a concealed firearm as provided in s. 790.06(1), and who is lawfully carrying a firearm in a concealed manner, to briefly and openly display the firearm to the ordinary sight of another person, unless the firearm is intentionally displayed in an angry or threatening manner, not in necessary self-defense.

I am originally from Florida, and it’s now my 2nd home where my family lives. I live in a state to the north and have a CCW permit that is valid and recognized in Florida.

Once, when showing my brother a new pistol I brought with me, pulling it from the trunk of my car - he quickly shoved me to conceal the pistol or I could get arrested. My state is an open carry state. I was shocked. He explained that open display of a pistol in Florida is against the law.

Crazy.

That cop is going to get hurt some day. Not because he is an @sshole (he is), but because of his extremely sloppy police work. Poor control of the situation, use of profanity, and arguing with persons that were being completely compliant. The only person escalating the situation was the deputy. It is pathetic.

The deputy should have asked the man to remain in his vehicle. He should have known right away the guy was carrying because he kept trying to adjust his shirt. He couldn't even give reasonable directions to the wife who was being completely compliant. Had this been a bad guy I don't think the deputy would come out on top. Instead all he has done is he has done is make two more enemies out of common citizens.

The first words out of the officers mouth should have been “Do you have a weapon?”. It all escalated from his not asking.
