Everything has a purposesometimes two or three of them! For most seasoned Survival Moms, some of these reuse ideas are already habit. But for those of us fairly new to frugal motherhood or the Survival Mom lifestyle, here are 20 things I never throw away:

Preppers’ PING!!
We already save most of those things. Not really because of a “prepper” mindset. But because we are not rich.
NewspaperSo many uses!
Unfortunately I haven’t bought a newspaper in 20 years.
Not sure why, But I could shot at it.
Not sure why, But I could shoot at it.
I pick up the urban rags three at a time to use for piddle pads for my little dogs.
Dryer lint is great stuff. It makes a very good fire starter if you save enough and blend it with melted parrafin or beeswax which you can buy in big blocks at craft stores (i.e. Hobby Lobby) then ct into roughly 1" cubes. Just pinch a corner of the cube to make a wick and it will burn hot with a good flame for up to 10 minutes...long enough to get your kindling lit.
I love these Gracious Living posts, but I always wonder what their house must look like.
My wife’s aunt potty trained our dog. I wish I knew what she did but in 15 years our guy has NEVER had an “accident”.
A couple of times when we were irresponsible and left him alone too long he went down into the basement and found the darkest corner and relieved himself.
Unless she was sick, one of our dogs was so trained to use the yard that she thought only our yard was to be used. She’d have to be coaxed when we visited relatives.
Democrats never throw away voter registrations does that count?
I never rake leaves. I mulch them, dog poop and grass clipping and spread them on the lawn late in the winter.
I always have the first green lawn and rarely ever purchase fertilizer.
I throw out NONE of the paper, mail, boxes etc and save them (during the winter to ignite the fire in my fireplace instead of using any fluid.
Old tee shirts and pants get thrown into a special basket to wipe up spills. Pants I use to wipe up oil and sticky stuff and use that along with the paper I save up to start fires.
When Milk, cheese, bread, butter go on special reduction I purchase many times more than I would be able to use in 3 - 4 months. Milk I freeze enough to last me a month because they often have milk at well below half price at least once every month or so.
Used motor oil is saved and wood for the fireplace is soaked and saved to enhance the firing up of my wood burning fireplace.
Most everything metal gets saved over a 6 month period and take it down to the local metal recycling center and I usually get $25 or more.
Therefore there is VERY little that actually gets trashed.
I've done that.
Bottle caps, because some day I might find a use for them.
There you go again with another list. I hate your lists because I have to deal with them.
I keep wine corks - the real cork ones. I do it because my husband did it and it seemed we would always use one for something. Not long ago, liberal relative was here and wanted to take a half full wine bottle back with them and said he couldn’t take it because they didn’t have a cork. I said, “I have a cork.” He said, “Of course, you would have a cork.” That was a dig because I’m a prepper and he thinks I’m nuts. Opened a drawer and handed him a real cork for his bottle.
When they see me save something instead of tossing it in the trash, they roll their eyes.
About the list: I’ve thrown some large coffee containers away as I emptied them and will stop that. Don’t save peanut butter jars but will start. I have lots of laundry lint in gallon plastic bag. I dont keep a number of things she does.
Two questions:
Has anyone here ever actually grown celery by using the bottom of the stalk and planting it? Will that work?
Does putting hair cuttings on new plants actually keep deer away? What about other varmints or bugs would they stay away? Ive never heard of this. Does anyone know?
>> I havent bought a newspaper in 20 years.
Fishwrap purveyors are so hard up that they send them to us for free!
We dont’ read them... but, So Many Other Uses! :-)
