Life has made a complete turnaround for the dog who was stabbed by her owner on Jan. 14 and left to die in the woods in northwest St. Johns County.

On Monday morning, Amber went home with her new family: Dan Sorrells, his wife, Mia, and their daughter, Ashley.

Sorrells is the deputy who found the dog shortly after she was dragged, howling, into the woods by her former owner, Randal Bryen Hart, 28, near his mobile home.

People who commit these crimes against helpless animals should be registered like sex offenders.

That prick needs,at the very least,a thorough flogging...and I would be more than happy to stand in line for as long as it took to show him how much of a dog lover I am.

Good to see the little girl got through ok.

That is an absolutely great suggestion! I would love to see their lives be made as miserable as possible.

I agree 100%.
Only a sub-human would harm children and/or animals. I have a kinda rescued dog. (or she has me). As a pup, five weeks old or so she was let out on a road near my house. I found her and temporally took her in only until we could find her a good home. Eight years ago.

Naw he just needs to learn a 22lf to the back of the head works very well.

Putting your dog down is the owners business. He just choose the wrong method.

If he would have taken it to the vet and spent 75 to a 100 dollars having the vet do kill the dog it be ok.

You're right of course.

I posted emotionally obviously. The thought of that poor creature being dragged terrified into the woods (assuming that actually happened)is more than a little unpleasant to a wuss who loves dogs.Still,if that's how he did do it I'd probably still punch him in the face.At the very least,I'd really really want to.

He could also have sold the dog or given it to a rescue group for rehoming.

He lied about the dog’s aggression, therefore, the desire to kill the dog was not out of need, but out of a desire to cause the animal pain and suffering—hence the knife improperly applied to the throat.

i submit that is not “the owner’s business”. The owner failed at his business—to be a steward of the dog in his care and properly provide for it.

We’re not discussing an aggressive dog which needed to be put down.

We’re discussing an apparently sociable dog whom the owner decided to slay slowly and painfully (there is a humane way to slit an animal’s throat—he clearly did not do it.)

The owner could have sold the dog or given it to a rescue group for re-homing.

He lied about the dog’s aggression, therefore, the desire to kill the dog was not out of need, but out of a desire to cause the animal pain and suffering—hence the knife improperly applied to the throat.

We do not need to defend the owner on this one; he had no more “right” to be a poor steward of the animal given him by God than a man has the “right” to be abusive to his God-given children.

My pets, 2 dogs and a cat, have no idea how good they have it.

A full bowl, freah water, a soft sofa to sleep on, and they own 4 humans that pet and scratch them on command.

Our kitten found us, on a stormy nasty night...she was looking in our livingroom window. She was starved and covered with an oily substance and smelled bad. She loved the food but hated the bath. We were keeping her until we could find a family....3 years later she is fat and happy and part of our family.

There are children, right here in Cleveland, that don’t have what my animals do.

It’s a sick society that treats the “least of these” so poorly.

It’s a society which, by and large, doesn’t realize that children and animals are all gifts which God has given to us.

We are to take care of them, protect them and train them.
