The grandaddy of cereal slogans is for Quaker Puffed Rice. The cereal is actually made using a process that resembles shooting rice from a gun. In 1904, Quaker introduced the cereal to the mass public by shooting Puffed Rice from cannons at the World's Fair. In 1913, an astute ad man decided to promote the cereal by exploiting how it's made and this famous, yet mostly forgotten, slogan was invented.

I looooove mini wheats. Yes they have sugar on them...but actually more nutritious than instant oatmeal w/ maple and brown sugar..

Shredded wheat has a glycemic index of about 70. For reference sucrose or processed sugar (50% fructose and 50% glucose) has a glycemic index of about 60. You eat shredded wheat you eat a big ole bowl of sugar.

The glycemic index is a steaming pile of horse manure. If you eat huge quantities of almost anything, your blood sugar will spike and/or you will gain weight. So many people have been bamboozled by this index, they are avoiding whole food groups because of this arbitrary index. In doing so, people cut out food that has nutrition their bodies need.

Sorry, but I will continue eating shredded wheat, fruit, pizza and pasta...in reasonable amounts.

What’s wrong with Honey Bunches of Oats????

TELL ME TELL ME TELLME!!!!!!!!!! (I love that stuff)

Cheerios is great stuff too, if you are watching your health- force yourself to have at least one bowl a week if you have to- you colon will thank you. At the risk of TMI eat it every day for a week and you will take a dump that brings back fond memories of dumps of old from your youth.

I just discovered gluten-free chocolate chex- they are delicious- They are rice based and delicious! Went back to the store for 4 more boxes and they are all gone already (in 2 weeks)

Gosh! Good memories! We were hooked! *shot from guns. Trusty dog King#. Radio. Milk delivered to your doorstep. The 50s. What's not to love? Really.

I fought with my brother over which one of us had the most "one square inch* deeds to *our* piece of land in the Yukon.

The deed looked official enough. Good memories. The whole story:

the Klondike Big Inch Land Co.

The real danger is the hidden additives in foods. Foods labelled: diet and healthy are generally the worst. Many people cannot process the added chemicals from things like Splenda to Canola Oil or High Fructose Corn Syrup, which leads to increase glucose levels, which in time, leads to diabetes.

The nutritional label is a crock. Genetically altered foods or man made chemicals or refined foods (white sugar, white flour) are to be avoided. Instead of white sugar, use raw honey or raw sugar. Instead of margarine use butter. The purer the food, the better, the easier it is for the body to process.

Looks like the proletariat is anticipating a ban on the cereal gun.

Sugar and honey, raw or not, will raise blood sugar if you eat enough it.

The Big Grain Lie has been perpetrated by the Vegetarian/Vegan lobby. Grains are NOT good for you in any shape form or fashion (unless soaked or fermented). The government food pyramid is a big fat lie, too. Saturated fat and “cholesterol” being bad for you is also a big fat lie.

This was all started by a bunch of loud mouth Vegetarians and a choice was made to villainize saturated fat on some faulty interpretation of studies. You are made to eat saturated fat. Cholesterol is your friend and is good. Cut the grains and sugar from your diet and tell your Dentist and over educated and misinformed (or ignoring the evidence) Cardiologist to suck eggs.

Go out and get some coconut oil, lard and tallow and start to eat good food. Try a little something from the plant, animal, fungi, protists, and eubacteria kingdoms. THAT’s a balanced diet and you’ll feel better and look better.
