During a teleconference on Wednesday to discuss an embarrassing breach of conduct in the NCAA enforcement department's investigation of Miami, a reporter prefaced his question to Mark Emmert with a courtesy: "Good afternoon, how are you?"

"I've had better days," the NCAA president replied.

A friend of mine is a college BB coach, he says the NCAA rules are contradictory, difficult to understand and virtually impossible to follow. And this guy is straight as an arrow.

I do not comment often because I know how useless private opinions seem to be in matters such as these.

I said during the Penn State debacle that SMU had grounds for reimbursement of lost revenues from the NCAA.

That being said...

What did anyone expect from the NCAA?

Now we will get hand wringing followed by the same thing that has been going on for years.

My guess is that this will be called an “isolated case surely not to be repeated”. The “Independent Investigation” which will be appointed will get to the bottom of this.
