A wayward dolphin that meandered into a polluted urban canal, riveting onlookers as it splashed around in the filthy water and shook black gunk from its snout, died Friday evening, marine experts said.
The deep-freeze weather hadnt seemed to faze the dolphin as it swam in the Gowanus Canal, which runs 1.5 miles through a narrow industrial zone near some of Brooklyns wealthiest neighborhoods.
The filthy canal was named a Superfund site in 2010, meaning the government can force polluters to pay for its restoration. For more than a century before, coal yards, chemical factories and fuel refineries on the canals banks discharged everything from tar to purple ink into the water, earning it the local nickname The Lavender Lake for its unnatural hue.

Cities are the ruination of this nation. Polluted, overcrowded, dangerous.
Not a good thing about them.

Asian Veterinarian: “We so sorry; your dolphin die. Like to stay for dinner?”
(You can get a LOT of mileage out of that one; works with any animal...)

Some nice restaurants in that part of Brooklyn, not too far from the canal. Maybe the dolphin was hoping to eat out.

Just as long as the Dolphin didn’t drink any Big Gulp sodas while it was in NY! Don’t want to get on Bloomies bad side....
I suppose even after 4 years of Obama, the Left will blame this on Bush and the “media” will make a big deal of it.

LOL! Know what you mean, but that canal was polluted back in the 60s when my dad was beat cop in that precinct.

(Democrats for Voldemort.)
Those sophisticated, environmentally conscious New Yawhkas poison a dolphin to death, but down in Lake Charles Louisiana, a bunch of rednecks in a major, big oil refining center seem to coexist just fine, and even an albino dolphin can thrive...
