He cannot override US statute with an EO, other than to tell all administrative agencies to stop using it and use something else....
If he so does, then he'll be breaking US law and the duty of the office of president as defined by the constitution. Impeach him.
High crimes and misdemeanors include deliberately violating or circumventing the laws of the US. He is charged with a constitutional duty of taking care that the laws are faithfully executed (Art II section 3), not breaking them for political expediences.
This stuff will of course all be challenged in court. The DC circuit has been encouraging (though we still don’t know what he has on John Roberts). In any event they will take years to wind through the courts, during which time he will extract beaucoup dollars from lefty gun-grabbing groups. And if they get mad when they’re struck down he’ll likely be on a beach in Honolulu by then anyhow.
Obama and his cabal have already refused to faithfully execute many laws. The Defense of Marriage Act, for just one such example.
This is no longer a nation of laws, but rather a nation of selectively applied laws, with an elite faction and protected people groups that are not held to the same compliance requirements as the general population.
