Posted on 02/04/2013 4:48:16 PM PST by TheThinkingAmericanist

(WXYZ) - Every year the automakers produce some of the most talked about ads that are aired during the Super Bowl.

This has been especially true over the last few years, where Chrysler produced ads featuring both Clint Eastwood and Eminem to highlight their progress as they emerged from bankruptcy.

I don't now how many of you saw the Paul Harvey Commercial. But as a fan of Mr. Harvey and being from Detroit. I was almost in tears during that; I am also, admittedly, someone who loves Farms and would like to own one myself one day, hopefully.

Think we could freep this poll?

Thank ya'll kindly.

Ram and the American farmer is ahead by 65%.

Now where is the poll for the Clydesdale?

I am so tired of being inundated with crap about Super Bowl commercials, Alice Key's (or whatever her name is) absolutely lousy national anthem destruction, and Beyonces big ass and legs flapping open and closed.

I thought the Super Bowl was a football game. What in the holy hell does any of that crap have to do with a football game. That's why I watched Puppy Bowl during half time.

I really didn't want to try to count how many times Beyonce spread her thighs in front of all those children and the camera.

The obscenity that this game has turned into makes me sick. Take the commercial crap and all that half time fireworks, confetti, thousands of people all over the field, and those most annoying so-called "singers" and go to hell.

I can’t find too much about the game any more that is not embarrassing to my wife and family about the Super Bowl. The commercials are bordering on filthy and the entertainment is worse than burlesque.

I really liked the farmer one. However, the Clydesdale one made me cry. I have to go with the one that made me cry.

The farmer commercial was great, however I laughed out loud at the Taco Bell commercial. (The Budweiser commercial as always was very nice)
Will vote, thanks for the link.

It may not have been the best commercial, but as a male who grew up “dating impaired” I really liked the Audi prom add.

If you watched the Puppy Bowl, how do you know what did or did not take place during halftime?

When I was in my 20’s and dating wasn’t going so well, I prayed to God to send me a farmer. He did, about 10 years later and I married him.

Yes, that commercial had me in tears.

I watched the Super Bowl until half-time and immediately went to the Puppy Bowl so I didn't have to watch even a minute of the madness that was displayed. Believe me, all the highlights of the obscene show have been on display all day on the internet, etc.

The message is not in the How? or the What?

The message is in the WHY?

Apple computer did this in the 1980s

Reagan did this every time he spoke.

If you’re interested in this concept you should watch this:

This ad

on youtube

has gone from 1.2 million views on Youtube,

To 1.4 million in the last 30 minutes.

That is extraordinary.

Ram is at 72% all others are in single digits.

It was not a true commercial trying to sell their product but at tribute to their customers the farmers. Nice job. Someone at RAM gets it!

Will definitely look at the Ram for my next truck.

Buy my trucks with two things in mind. Must be a standard transmission and my feet must reach the peddles...Unfortunately none of the American made trucks meet the second criteria. Therefore I'm still driving a ten year old Nissan made in Tennessee for small people.

To: hoosiermama

You are correct.

It is not a “true commercial”

Yes, someone at RAM gets it.

The “it” is how to communicate.

If you listen to old Reagan speeches you will here the same thing.

The WHAT and the HOW are irrelevant.

The what and the how of a “thing” or a “concept” is most of what we hear.

People don’t “Buy” what you do, they buy “Why” you do it.

It turns the message on it’s head and is what has been missing from the conservative message for way too many years.

The Paul Harvey ad is the greatest piece of advertising I’ve ever seen in my life. I really don’t even see it as adverting. It was art. Stunning, beautiful art... with a sponsor.

I’m grateful to that sponsor for putting it on the air.

Yes, art. Timeless, classic art. It was a tribute to the farm, farmer and a way of life.
Read THE LAST FARMER by Howard Kohn. I’ve bought and loaned over a dozen copies that keep getting passed on to others who “need” to read it.
Kohn was editor of Rolling Stone magazine when he had the epiphany and wrote the book.

The message dies with the messenger, before it ever starts.

It takes a certain leap of faith to craft and deliver a message that resonates in the hearts of man.

Leadership ?

No.

Inspiration ?

YES !!!!

Funny but even before reading the poll the top 2 in my choice were the Clydesdale and The Farmer in that order.
Worst was the fatboy lip slobbering with the cute blonde. Just hated that gross display.

I agree about Palin.

However, the machine that is the media and our own Party, tends to throttle the inherent nature of man.

I suggest we must break on through to the other side.

My fifth great grandfathers both signed the Bradford Accord that preceded the Declaration of Independence. Many phrases in the first were repeated in the second. Our education system teaches what to think not how to think. Those who think “outside the box” are often excluded in society.
The format and those who produce our news use a subscribed format taught and followed through out the profession. Until someone buys one of the major networks and hires innovative creative intelligent team who initiate new methods we're stuck.
