Beyonce wowed millions around the world with her spectacular Super Bowl performance on Sunday but there may be no halftime show next year - as New Jersey is too cold.

I went to the Super Bowl and I’m not a high roller.
Drove 1100 miles each way and stayed in a holiday inn.
My seats were so far up, I could hardly see the horrible halftime show.
But....it was really great to get out of the cold for a few days, it was fun to walk around the city and talk to fans of both teams. Everyone I spoke with agreed that a cold weather SB is a bad idea.

Well, I hope you are right. But it seems that every year they push the envelope, and people put up with it.

Performances over the past several years have been inappropriate. I don’t really watch any more, but I do remember watching one year and being really annoyed that they had a foreigner who does not even like America, Paul McCartney.

Last year was, I think, Madonna. Again, I did not watch it, but I am pretty sure I read accounts that talked of how inappropriate it was.

One year, it was Timberlake and the Jackson woman with the “wardrobe malfunction”. Everyone one FOX News was chatting about the flashing that went on, but I do not recall any of them commenting on the disgusting nature of the song’s lyrics and inappropriate choreography. The title of the song was “Rock Your Body” and the line in which he exposed her was “Better have you naked by the end of this song”. (I had to look that us because it just sounds so outrageous that I was afraid I was remembering some parody.) I am not familiar with the song, but that line is probably just one of many disgusting ones. I distinctly remember seeing in the news clips that the choreography had him handling her very roughly, but I don’t remember any gasps about that part of the routine.

Anyway — long post, sorry — I guess my point is that people just have not been raising cain about how these shows push the envelope in terms of costumes and choreography. I have not heard of sponsor boycott threats or email/phone call campaigns. So I hope you are right and that people are finally complaining.

What I meant to say is that, it could be that this talk about “cold weather” in the NY/NJ area next year could really be a “front” to mean that Beyonce’s performance could have been the straw that broke the cammel’s back, that is all.

“Most folks who go to the SB are high rollers. For better or worse they want to go to places like NYC. They don’t want to go to KC”

True...but they are holding the 2015 Superbowl in Arizona...and I recall it was in Detroit a few years ago.

I think the NFL was just butt-hurt that the renovation didn’t put a roof on the stadium.....and they can get away with backing out at KC...but not the NY area.

Nonsense.

There will be a halftime show, and it will be in the same vein as the last several, because they're trying to hook a non-football audience into watching the game (it's all about the ad $$$).

If they decide the weather conditions will prevent it from being on the field, it will be staged in a nearby facility (there's a basketball/hockey arena in the same complex, right?) and displayed on the "Jumbotron" screens at the stadium.

If they go with what you have said, becuause if my memory serves me correct, there is an arena near by which is part of the Meadowlands, they could have something there. But the article just does not mentioned that.

If that happens, they will more likely invite either Billy Joel or the Boss again, because they are native NY/NJ guys.

Oh, I didn't expect the article to mention it. Despite my level of certainty, this is my opinion/analysis/prediction, not any actual knowledge of the plans.

But I can't see the NFL and the broadcast partner (Fox, next year, I believe) giving up their halftime show extravaganza -- it's too much a part of the marketing of the Super Bowl experience (which has as little to do with actual football as it can manage). They'll find a way to make it work, and it's be easy to hold the show nearby and live simulcast it.

Maybe it is the NFL’s way of saying, please get the arena available for the halftime show nearby.
