(V): The Way To Solve Our Debt: Sell California
my fertile brain | 02-07-2013 | OrangeHoof

America is up to their eyebrows in debt and fixing to get worse. Well, if this were a normal American family, they would sell off some of the possessions they think could get their finances back on firm ground. Government doesn't seem to work that way. They just print more money (inflationary) or borrow money from other countries (exploding the debt). Not good.

America seems to have no appetite for tightening their fiscal belts either so perhaps it is time to sell off a few assets. Alaska might be a good choice but it is a tough sell because it is so dang cold. Unless another country wanted to own it just for the mineral rights, it wouldn't get much on the open market. Texas is another state with a great economy and would be highly appealing but you simply can't buy Texas - they wouldn't stand for it.

So I suggest we sell California to the Chinese in return for the forgiveness of all our financial debts and a bonus payment to help retire some other outstanding debts.

It has rich farmland that the Chinese would surely love to have. There are vineyards to make them wine exporters. There is great entertainment and media conglomerates based in California that the Chinese would find highly attractive to own.

But California is also awash in their own debts so the U.S. should be happy to unload that burden. California is turning into Mexico Norte anyway so now all those illegals will be *their* problem. Besides, it will be fun watching the Chinese nationalize Hollywood and the porn industry.

Sure, it will be a little painful at first, but America will adjust. And remember that missile technology Clinton sold the Chinese so they could aim nukes that could reach California? Well, now the Chinese would be nuking themselves so selling Cali to the Chinese also advances world peace and reduces the global nuclear threat.

Maybe if the Chinese drive a hard bargain, we might have to sell them Oregon too but that's where we draw the line, Beijing - take it or leave it.

Are you going to give us time to disinter the millions of patriotic Americans who lay buried there, before you cavalierly sell off their final resting place?

And how do we then explain to them that we sold the land they loved to our enemies?

The Mexicans won’t buy it - why buy the cow when the milk is free?

“give Alaska to Russia...”

Jes’ wonderin’, but suppose we gave Alaska to Russia, today.

Would Alaskans pay higher or lower taxes?

Hrm? Selling property for cash does make plenty of sense in monopoly. Selling property for improvements is one of the keys of leverage...

You can’t sell it. Mexico owns it.

Makes sense as most of their former residents now live here...at least in my neighborhood.

Alaskans dont pay state taxes, they get paid.

However, I suspect the Russians would not be friendly to the Americans. Especially since the Americans are such a pro gun / hunting culture. You know the old saying about the difference between a hunter and a sniper...

...is what he is looking at through the scope.

Please. California is one of the best pieces of land in this nation. I don’t care what idiots live there now or how much funny money we owe China. Politics and people can change in a generation but good land is pretty much always good land
