Welllll... If I thought I was old last year God alone knows what I am this year! I can no longer take the cold outdoors and it never really gets warm here but I hope I find some enthusiasm soon because Lady Bender had all 22 seed catalogs spread on the dining room table with her lap top at hand for research. Her end is the hundred of annuals she starts and transplants every year. and I need to prepare a 12x12 bed for the 100 strawberry plants in the greenhouse but there is plenty of time for the corn etc...

There's a Japanese variety called Mirai which is supposed to be exceptional. Have you tried it?

I can’t lift squat because of my shoulder problems. Some places you can talk the staff into loading it for you, and then what I did was just leave the bags in the truck, and used a small bucket to carry the dirt from there to the containers.
Yes, we have apples, peaches, and pears planted outside. The trouble comes when we get a warm spell, trees bud, and then a cold snap and no fruit.
However, when this hit just right, we think we’ll get loads of fruit. I was thinking such a green house would let me grow more than one lemon tree, and plenty of tomatoes.
Still we will have to see. We also want a storge shed, root cellar, and cistern, and will have to choose one, since we can’t afford all.

I find my enthusiasm has to give way to discipline and determination and fear haveing to eat supermarket tomatoes, before I finally get going. LOL.
Well, I might have to make do with that, but I’d rather get more physically fit.

I have spondyloarthropathy which is simply spinal arthritis. But it manages to spin off into tennis elbow, coccydynia, and plantar fasciitis. The doctor says I have psoriatic arthritis, so I take a pricey bi-weekly injection of Humira.
I’m sore all over today from working the garden this weekend. Here in the Raleigh area it’s time to put in the cold weather early spring veggies. Got the garden tilled, and put out the sets I had in my little greenhouse—cabbage, brocolli, lettuce, and onions. I sowed spinach and 5 rows of garden peas. Don’t know what I’m going to do with 60+ heads of brocolli.
The garlic cloves I set out last November look pretty good. First time for me to grow garlic.
Found something on the internet about growing celery. You know the center of a celery bunch has that green leafy stalk growing out of it? Well, you can just leave the bottom 2 inches or so in a bowl of water, and that center will start to grow. Then stick it in a pot of soil nearly covering it up. There’s have 3 in the greenhouse now. Hadn’t ever done celery before, either.
I have to sleep in my LazyBoy recliner because the bed hurts my back too much. Everything should be much better tomorrow.

Awesome pics. Thanks for sharing. That will be a nice strawberry bed. Hubby just finished building one of those tiered 6 foot diameter strawberry beds.
We are still in the 40’s, but it beats the North East weather, so I’m not complaining.
I make a cheesecake using tequila, It is delicous, smooth and never lasts. You’re right, cooking the tequila takes all the “fun” out of it, but the flavor is G R E A T. Before coming to TX, I’d never heard of tequila, but the first taste, it and I became good friends. I use it some times when I’m cooking something sweet, raspberry and chocolate pudding plus my margarita cheese cake are some of the uses.
Marcella, I have hip replacements and am not supposed to bend to the ground. Hubby built some raised gardens, plus I use molasses pots and syrup pots, plus styrofoam coolers, I punch holes in the various pots, put them on cinder blocks, holes in the cinder blocks face upward, to keep the snakes from using the holes for naps. Right now I have 10 empty surup pots ready for the community garden, I’ll use them for carrots, kohrabi etc.
