I'm closing in on 50 and I am a white male so I guess that makes me an out-of-touch dinosaur but some of the things I am seeing nowadays I just shake my head at. Frankly, I didn't think it was possible for some of these things to occur in the USofA.

One of these things is watching what is going on in this case. We have a lunatic running around killing both innocent cops and innocent citizens and we actually have some people on the right treating him as if he had legitimate grievances which he just went a little overboard with. The second he started killing people (particularly people who had nothing to do with him being fired) he became a homicidal nut.

He is literally no different from the lunatics who go postal when they are fired from their job. And yet, somehow, the LAPD is being questioned with regard to their treatment of him. I don't care if everything this guy said is true, the LAPD was absolutely justified in firing him because they demonstrated a profound insight into his character. And that's true whether or not this guy did or did not see a fellow officer kick a homeless guy.

Lastly, I would note with regard to how the LAPD treats citizens, you typically have to work real hard to get their attention when you are living in Los Angeles. They don't just hook up people because they have nothing better to do.

Not sure what your point is. I don’t condone Mr. Dorner’s actions. His choice of victims was vicious and brutal and is indicative of a truly terrifying cold calculative rage.

That does not change the basic fact that criminals will become folk heroes when they attack a corrupt government.

The LAPD created this Frankenstein monster and they own the destruction that comes. Corruption has consequences.

Of all the institutions in Los Angeles, the only instutitions that have attempted to maintain some semblance of professionalism are the Fire Dept and the LAPD.

Where does shooting up a vehicle that is the wrong make and model fit in this continuum of professionalism that the LAPD maintains? Women shot during LAPD ex-cop manhunt had no warning, lawyer says

Does anyone know WHY he was fired back in ‘08? Cops don’t just get fired without several rounds of hearings and investigations.

He was fired to ratting out his training officer. That would happen if he were lying....or if he were telling the truth.

By work real hard to gain the attention of the LAPD, do you mean drive a different color vehicle? What about different make and model?

I'm not defending this jackass' actions in any way or form. But shooting up random civilians seems to be playing right into his [Dorner's] accusations.

U.S. troops in a war zone face court martial for less. How is it we've come to expect less from the police that are allegedly there to serve and protect?

The excuse that the area is dangerous and the residents of the area are a rough lot doesn't allow me to waste an Iraqi or Afghan village and shoot up random vehicles out of fear. It damn sure doesn't give the LAPD carte blanche to do as such in America.

There are a lot of morons on this site today. I single you three out not because you are at the top of the class but only because you are available targets of opportunity.

What the 2 cops did in shooting the 2 Hispanic ladies was a disgraceful act of unprofessionalism which justifies those cops getting fired and probably getting indicted for the reckless discharge of their sidearms. But their actions in no way lend credence to Dorner's actions.

More importantly their actions do not serve as an indictment of the LAPD any more than does 5 US Army enlisted men raping a 14 year old Iraqi girl and then killing her parents and 6 year old sister serve as an indictment of the American military.

Or perhaps you disagree. If so, I would enjoy being enlightened by the pointy-head faction on FR today.

No, but they do lend affirmation to the belief systems of many that law enforcement has grown lazy, stupid, corrupt and abusive.

Which is why a population that has lost trust in its institutions might view a criminal that targets an unloved and distrusted institution as a folk hero.

It's a symptom of cultural collapse.

The turds that did that need to stand trial for attempted murder. How much more is there that we have yet to find out?

The soldier's identity didn't become known until several months after the girl was raped and killed along with her 6 year old sister and parents.

Here, I have no doubt that what the 2 cops did in shooting the Hispanic ladies will be career-enders. So why don't you be patient and wait and see what happens. In the meantime, hopefully we can agree that accidentally shooting 2 women in no way equates to raping a girl and then murdering her and her family to cover up the crime. If that sort of crime doesn't serve as an indictment of the US Army then what the 2 cops did in Torrance shouldn't serve as an indictment of the LAPD.

You've spent quite a few posts licking LAPD boots and boo-hooing their plight. You've managed to lambaste other posters and ignore the fact LAPD went willy-nilly through the city shooting up citizens. Then you went and dared other posters to go on a tour of various areas and that that would somehow change their views:

n a final note, if the good citizens of South Central are upset with the LAPD, then the problem lies with the citizens and not with the LAPD. And if you don't believe me, I volunteer to take you on a tour of South Central. I go thru South Central several times a week. We can make it a walking tour and walk down Broadway or visit areas like the corner of Florence and Normandie or, better yet, we can stroll thru Nickerson Gardens and you can experience first hand what the LAPD does on a daily basis. I think an experience like that my change your perspective on who needs to re-examine how they are living their lives.

I tell you what hoss.....I have 4 back to back combat deployments; two of those deployments were AFTER I wound up with shrapnel in the lung. I was deploying to Iraq since the beginning in March 2003. I've been on foot patrol in nearly every major city in Al-Anbar Province, aka the Sunni Triangle, to include Al-Fallujah during Al-Fajr. And funny, even during all out Block 3 combat, never once did any of us decide it was okay to shoot random civilians on sight.

You want to dare to take a neighborhood stroll? Shoulder a pack and rifle and follow me out the door next time out. Bring your pansy LAPD buddies with you too.....we'll see who changes who's viewpoint.

Out of all four deployments receiving umpteen BOLOs of vehicles laden with explosives, we still did not shoot up random vehicles vaguely matching the BOLO descriptions. In the instances service members did open fire, an investigation followed; any hint it was a bad shot and they faced court martial, or at the least NJP....and this is in a combat zone.

Time and again police shoot up houses and family pets without reprisal. Within minutes two civilian vehicles were fired upon numerous times and two innocent U.S. CITIZENS IN A MAJOR AMERICAN CITY were shot....and yet no word, not even a hint that the officers will face any type of reprimand let alone punishment for recklessly endangering the citizens they claim to serve and protect.

I do enjoy your strawman about the soldiers raping a 14 yr old girl and killing her and her family. In that instance, the soldier was apprehended, tried and faces the death penalty when the sentencing phase of his trial begins Monday..........what charges do the LAPD officers that fired on innocent civilians face?

Never once did I say LAPD shooting up innocent civilians out of fear and heavy handedness lent credence to Dorner's actions. What I said was LAPD is demonstrated their propensity for heavy handed tactics and abuse referenced in Dorner's alleged manifesto.

Wipe your chin, your boot polish is smeared.

Are you actually suggesting that the LAPD is the problem here?

If so, what do you base that on (other than the ravings of a homicidal lunatic)?

As for my support of the LAPD, you are damn right that I support them. They are the thin blue line. I lived in LA during the Rodney Kings rights and my parents did during the Watts riots and I know first hand how easy it is for law and order to breakdown and for the mob to takeover. So you want to call me an LAPD boot-licker, you go right ahead. I will wear that label with pride. The LAPD is one of the finest police organizations in the country and the officers of that organization do a great job of maintaining the peace in Los Angeles.
