I speak to you tonight from Washington, D.C. The state of our economy is tenuous but our people remain the greatest example of freedom and prosperity the world has ever known.
People say America is exceptional. I agree, but its not the complexion of our skin or the twists in our DNA that make us unique. America is exceptional because we were founded upon the notion that everyone should be free to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.
For the first time in history, men and women were guaranteed a chance to succeed based NOT on who your parents were but on your own initiative and desire to work.
We are in danger, though, of forgetting what made us great. The President seems to think the country can continue to borrow $50,000 per second. The President believes that we should just squeeze more money out of those who are working.

Of course, if you hadn’t heard from big media, and most of both parties, the tea party is dead. Their half right from my perspective. I’m dead set, on sending their buts home, yes it will take time. I don’t really care.

My response (although I didn’t watch)
The federal government should not be doing your job, your city’s job, your county’s job, your states job... it should be doing only what the Constitution assigns it. When your country is bankrupt you do not expand the government, and have its least productive sector sucking up more wealth out of the economy. Government spending does not help the economy, it hinders it. It is called a mis-allocation of resources.
The government cannot spend its way out of debt. The government cannot tax our way to prosperity. The government is the least efficient entity to be doing anything other than the most basic role assigned to it: leave us alone to improve our own lives, to work our own jobs and for us to make our own decisions.

I did. Here's the relevant remarks about immigrants:
"We are the party that embraces hard work and ingenuity, therefore we must be the party that embraces the immigrant who wants to come to America for a better future.
We must be the party who sees immigrants as assets, not liabilities.
We must be the party that says, If you want to work, if you want to become an American, we welcome you.
Those comments are pretty generic. I have not heard more concrete statements about accepting illegals.

Rand Paul's speech illustrates our problem. He says spending must be reduced, but he doesn't even mention Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid or any of the entitlement programs that must be cut. I cannot think of one politician in this country who has the guts to say that we must cut Social Security benefit and that we must cut Medicare and Medicaid benefits. Not one.
So, what chance is there that there will be any cuts to entitlement programs (all of which are unconstitutional) when no one has the guts to call for cuts?

Yes, he does mention entitlements. Go and have another look. He also said he will introduce a budget that balances in 5 years. This will include “fixes” to SS and medicare.

No, sir, Mr. Paul does not call for any cuts to entitlements in his speech.
Mr. Paul does not call for any cuts to Social Security in his speech.
Mr. Paul does not call for any cuts to Medicare in his speech.
Mr. Paul does not call for any cuts to Medicaid in his speech.

He said the president has taken entitlements off the table (he wants them on the table), he says Democrats need to admit that not ever dollar spent domestically is sacred and that GOP need to admit not every dollar on military is sacred. He has already proposed raising retirement age and means testing to fix SS and medicare. His budget cuts 500 billion dollars in the 1st year (go look it up) and he’s introducing it again shortly.

Mr. Paul is proving that he is a politician just like all the other politicians who dominate and infect our government. Mr. Paul is proving that he will not do or say anything that he is afraid might be unpopular.
Mr. Paul does not call for any cuts to entitlements in his speech because he is afraid that such cuts are unpopular.
Mr. Paul does not call for any cuts to Social Security in his speech because he is afraid that such cuts are unpopular.
Mr. Paul does not call for any cuts to Medicare in his speech because he is afraid that such cuts are unpopular.
Mr. Paul does not call for any cuts to Medicaid in his speech because he is afraid that such cuts are unpopular.
If Mr. Paul will not risk his cushy political position by challenging senior entitlement programs, who will? America needs a real leader.

Read his budget. Paul was a doctor for 17 years before becoming a senator so I think he knows more about medicaid than any of us. He doesn’t want to cut people off existing entitlements.
