Please, do not laugh. Barack Obama has the same qualifications to be Pope, as he has to be a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, or President of the United States. If Obama can win the Nobel Peace Prize, then we cannot say with 100 percent certainty, that he cannot become Pope. Stranger things have happened.

As far as I am aware, one does not need to be a Cardinal in order to become Pope. The job is open to any Baptized male Catholic. Two Popes, Benedict IX (1012 - 1056) and John XII (930 - 964), become Popes when both were 11 years old and 18 years old respectively, and had not even been ordained as priests.

Baptism into the Catholic Church as an adult does not follow any rigid protocol. Some take months to be Baptized into the Church as adults, following detailed Catholic Catechism classes, while others are accepted into the church in brief ceremonies at their hospital beds in a process that takes about 20 minutes.

Theoretically, all 500 million Catholic men in the world are eligible for the job of Pope. And some priests would be able to get Obama Baptized as a Catholic in a single day. Some nutty but powerful person somewhere, may decide that the Catholic Church needs the same "hope and change", that Obama has brought to America.

What would you do, if the conclave of Cardinals announces a newly baptized Obama as the new Pope?

O’Bumbler is not Roman Catholic. He can not become Pope. Even if a baptized Catholic, his public stances and voting record would cause him to be excommunicated from the Church.

Since Joe Biden is a Catholic in schism with Church teaching and has excommunicated himself by both public speech and direct voting action as a member of a deliberative body, he is not qualified either.

I have little doubt that the next Pope will be at least as Conservative as the present Pontiff. HE and his predecessor have been appointing Cardinals since the 1970’s. Virtually every member of the College of Cardinals has been appointed by either John Paul II or Benedict XVI.
