(CNN) - The Illinois Senate will vote Thursday --Valentine's Day -- on whether to legalize same-sex marriage.

Because Democrats have supermajority control of the General Assembly, the measure is expected to be approved. After the Senate vote, the measure would be considered by the House.

Gov. Pat Quinn, a Democrat, has indicated he would sign the bill.

If it is approved, Illinois would be the 10th state, plus the District of Columbia, to legalize same-sex marriage, according to Lambda Legal, a gay rights organization.

Three other states are considering similar legalization, said Camilla Taylor, marriage project director for Lambda Legal. A bill has passed the Rhode Island House and has been sent to the Senate. A proposal has been introduced in the Hawaii legislature and another is expected in Delaware, Taylor said.

"All eyes are on us," said Taylor, who is based in Illinois. "It's looking great. We're very excited about Illinois."

On February 6, Quinn said that "marriage equality is a matter of fairness and equal rights under law."

"We took the first step towards marriage equality two years ago when I signed civil unions into law. Since that day, thousands of committed couples in 92 counties across our state have entered into civil unions," he said. "Now is the time for the next step in providing equal rights to all people in Illinois."

Five states, including Illinois, have civil union laws, according to Lambda Legal and the National Conference of State Legislatures. The others are Hawaii, Delaware, New Jersey and Rhode Island.

The groups list four states as having some type of domestic-partnership recognition: California, Oregon, Nevada and Wisconsin. Lambda Legal lists Colorado as recognizing designated beneficiary agreements

To be a Democrat, these days, is to be Progressively Immoral.

Pregnant Women in Combat, Destorying Holy Matrimony and putting the blood of the Innocents on all of us. May sin be sin quicky on those who promote such things!

Under a court-imposed mandate to pass a Concealed Carry law for the state, what does the legislature do? Why they pass a law sanctifying gay marriage! Yep. that’s Illinois. Business as usual.

Yup, that’s the ticket.

Now that the senate has “fixed” the Illinois budget problems, the gun murdeers in gun-controlled Chicago, and found billions for their unfunded pensions, they can get down to such pressing problems as gay marriage.

And one wonders why the words “senate” and “slime” are rapidly becoming synonyms. (State senate, national senate...what’s the diff? Slime - all.)

But things would be soooooooooo much better in this country if the Illinois state legislature was allowed to pick our Senators for us. Mike Madigan would politely consult of all the General Assembly for their input and appoint a couple of John Calhoun/Henry Clay/Daniel Webster type "statesmen", once that power was given to him. Then our U.S. Senate would become a body of esteemed thoughtful leaders, and revert back to the way it was in 1789.

The anti-17th amendment freepers have assured me of this, and explained anyone who believes otherwise is an idiot.

I foresee dark days ahead for Illinois.

GOD will not be mocked by the legalization of homosexual marriage, abortion, the practice of dishonest scales and law, and the teaching of immorality in public schools.

I tried emailing and calling my Chicago Democrat machine State Senator this morning. He was just sworn in as a State Senator a month ago. The email address on his website is his old state representative email (staterepbillcunningham@gmail.com), it’s obsolete and the email bounces back. Filling out an email on the state capitol website to him gives me an error message. Calling his “local” Chicago office doesn’t work, the number is disconnected. I called his Senate office in Springfield, nobody picked up so I left a message on voicemail. I bet none of his staff returns my call.

But the “Abolish the 17th amendment” freepers tells me that state legislators are our “local” government and soooo responsive to the people and easy to get a hold of. Why, Springfield is a mere four hour drive away as they scheme to pass the gay marriage bill. That’s local government who cares about us and the “best interests” of our state. Funny, they could have fooled me.

I’ve never bothered to try to contact my VRA-mandated State Senator. She is as useless as tits on a bull.
