Do you support an increase in the federal minimum wage?

Yes, but we shouldn't permanently tie it to cost of living increases

Just let the states decide

Baraq could make everyone “middle class” with the stroke of a pen. What’s he waiting for?

I used to run Fast Food and always had to explain to my employees the reality of minimum wage increases, every time it would result in less people doing more work. When the employees finally realized that they actually lost on the wage increase because of lost hours and increased prices it made them quite unhappy.

That's the plan, Stan. The Joker man is putting America in the trash can.

Oh, for Heaven’s sake! There should be no minimum wage at all. Completely abolish the Fe(de)ral
minimum wage, and let the employer offer a wage, and the prospective employee either accept or reject
it. That’s called “Freedom,” and it keeps the buttheads in the tyrannical government out of the equation.

Yes, it’s a no-brainer

There might be a surprise or two in store for the low information voters who think this is all gum drops and rainbows. A couple both earning a $9.00 minimum wage will find themselves making over $38,000 a year if they manage 40 hours a week.

That will take them beyond the cap line for qualifying for a lot of the government handouts they may be getting at their current wage. It will also jump them into a higher tax bracket that will erase the gain in wage if they don't have mortgage and insurance deductions to compensate.

I’m sure you don’t expect them to do this much math. The same can be said for overtime wages which often end up not being worth the extra work as the marginal tax rates eat up most of the income.

As wages increase employers are finding other ways to manage such as automated checkout systems at stores versus checkers. Few of our local grocery stores have sackers and clerks don’t even put your groceries in your cart, let alone provide anyone to take groceries out to your car any more. One of these days I expect even fast food places to have an automated “have it our way” system.

Sheesh, I’m worth at least $1,000 an hour. Maybe you’ll be happy at $500, but I’ll be miserable. And the world doesn’t want that, trust me.

It’s nice “in theory”?? WTF? What “theory” says this ever works? It’s snake oil and bunkum.

The day has COME! I was in a Jack In The Box in San Antonio last week and they were testing an automated order kiosk in the lobby! You simply used the touch screen to order your food and then pay with cash or card!

Basically, instead of having a cashier take your order, put it in the system and send the order to the back, you do it all yourself! It is RIDICULOUS!

When I was fairly new to the working world, I got caught in that trap...once. I took home LESS, after working a certain amount of overtime.

After checking with Payroll, I then got out the tax tables and my calculator, and made up a chart of just how many extra hours I could work without penalty, and made sure I never again worked "too many" hours. I kept that up to date as pay rates, dependents, and tax rates changed.

Sure; you get it back at the end of the year; but that's then, and doesn't pay bills now...and is needlessly loaning the government interest free money.

Increasing the minimum wage does nothing for the economy. It is just an alternate means to printing more money.
Obama is no better than any other liberal retard, if he can’t raise taxes, he will raise payrolls. Higher pay means higher tax rates. It’s all a liberal scheme to hoodwink people.

A wage increase is also an increase in living expense at the same rate.

Pretty soon there will only be one person working in every business. I do remember the automans (I believe they were called) which we used to have at work in the olden days. Shelves rotated around and you could select from cold sandwiches and other stuff. It was all dated when they filled the machine and we used to have a gambling pot where you could bet on the oldest date of someone’s purchase throughout the day. Some of that stuff had been in there for quite a while.
