In the wake of the announcement by Pope Benedict XVI that he will step down as of the end of this month, numerous hate-filled messages have been posted on the social media site Twitter, as reposted by conservative writer Michelle Malkin's Twitter watchdog site Twitchy on Feb. 11, 2013.

The man born Joseph Ratzinger in 1927 Germany was falsely accused on-line of being a Nazi during the Second World War.

Like all German children at the time, Ratzinger was enrolled by law in the Hitler Youth when he was 14, but reportedly refused to attend meetings.

He was also drafted in the German Luftwaffe (Air Force) when he was 16-yrs-old, but soon thereafter deserted rather than fight against the liberating American Army.

When your hero fosters so much hate, of course, you are going to spew that hatred to others.

I asked one Obama worshipper how he would feel if I said the same nasty things about his idol. Never got a response.

Hmmm ...

What if ...

IF, mind you ...

What if the Pope is into eschatology to such a degree he thinks the anti-christ is in his time ...

and what if, because he knows there will be a one world church ...

and what if he takes seriously the words "on seven hills" seriously ...

and what if he just says ...

Naaahhh ... not on MY watch ... I ain't gonn'a HAVE a watch ... I quit.

Just what if ...

y'know ?

Frankly, a 14 year old in 1930's Germany cannot be held to full account for their participation in things like Hitler Youth. Even if they got caught up in it, they were being subjected to a propaganda machine that was even more pervasive than what we conservatives face in today's United States. And look at how influential today's media is with the low information voter.

That being said, the young future Pope sounds as though he already was seeing evil for what it was and had proper discernment. He made some courageous stands at an early age. I am sure that not cooperating with the Nazi indoctrination machine was wrought with risk of retribution. Character showing at an early age.
