Kind of reminds me of Steven King's cameo in Creep Show.

Meteorites can be worth several hundred dollars per ounce.

They say it was a meteor.

That’s why I think it was on their satellites that was in a somewhat controlled re-entry, and they don’t want anyone taking off with any ‘pieces’ of the object.

When will the runors start to the effect it was a UFO and the Russian government is engaged in a cover up.

Personally I think it was a UFO piloted by Bigfoot.

I actually saw a meteor once. I was working security and was walking across the parking lot to begin my clockround, when a huge green fireball shot overhead. I heard a sizzling sound, like one hears with sparklers.

I was in south Georgia, it was later reported that the meteor landed in North Carolina.

We had a CB radio in the office, and there was a lot of chatter.

“There’s got to be a pipin fresh conspiracy baked in here somewhere.”

I think we should make up a good one. It has to include George Bush, the Tri Lateral Commission, a secret satellite, GMO seeds, and fluoride in drinking water. And maybe pancakes.

Physics is still the law of the land even in Russia. The meteor dissipated a force equal to a nuclear bomb. It would have required the force of a nuclear bomb to get such a satellite into orbit.

I saw one once too. I was in the 2nd grade in the late 60’s and was playing in the back yard on a clear late spring evening chasing lightning bugs with a neighbor friend while my mother was sitting on the back patio keeping an eye on us. All of a sudden the ground lit up like it was daytime. We looked up to see this thing streak right above us and just like you said; it was greenish, actually I recall it was sort of turquoise, with a long sparkly tail and as it passed over, it made a hissing, whistling sound. My older brother was inside the house listening to a Yankee’s game on the radio and came out to see what happened as he’d seen the flash through his bedroom window and thought a transformer exploded. A while later the local radio station broke in with reports the strange sighting. It was a meteorite, probably the size of a baseball or smaller and it supposedly landed about 20 miles away on a small mountain but AFAIK, no one ever found it.

Although it scared me (and my mother) at the time, it was the coolest thing I ever saw.

I agree that it is unlikely this thing was launched from earth. And it is certainly a meteor (at least it looked and acted exactly like one does)

But surely we could launch an atomic bomb into orbit with a lot less energy than you are suggesting?

Thank you for the response.

IT being a satellite seems to be a far-fetched possibility at best. It just seems better to dismiss it after thorough consideration rather than ignore the possibility.

The coolest fireball I ever saw was Apollo 15 liftoff, 3 miles from the pad on Cape Kennedy grounds.
