Nowhere do I read that others witnessed the events and other than the black lady claiming the offenses (slapping and using racial slurs.)
I am finding more and more, that I require actual witnesses (more than one and not those of same skin color as the offended person) as skin color does seem to come into play more and more with the result of our "racial healing" President, before I decide that after reading of a so-called physical or verbal abuse by one person against another, be guilty.
After having been seated with a screaming 3 year old, whose mother was a few rows and across the aisle from me with a newborn baby, I understand the extreme frustration with adults not agreeing to sign on to care for screaming babies or children, merely to travel from one part of the country to another.
Of course, that 3 year old should only be seated next to his mother by the airlines but in their wisdom, decide not to, then to subject other passengers to care for the toddler, is outrageous!
Lastly, though I totally understand the cause of pain inflicted on babies and little children, passengers can only tolerate so much regardless of the amount of patience, though never to physical assault anyone under any condition, I'm still looking for witnesses to affirm the actual assault.
The man denies having used the racial slur and claims he had only one alcoholic drink. Whether he’s lying should be fairly easy to determine. Of course there is no excuse for slapping someone’s child.
Of all the questions involving this situation I would rank this one the stupidest.
True. My Mom rented me out until I was 2 at the best funeral homes in the area.
If this is true, the guy is an idiot.
On another subject, another reason I’ll never fly again is I don’t know who sat in the seat before me. It could very well have been a baby who crapped in his diaper.
the child’s ears were probably hurting.
Agent Cheney added that Bennett received help from other passengers on the Delta flight. Todd Wooten, who was seated 12 rows ahead, told authorities that he ‘heard derogatory language coming from the rear of the aircraft’ and went to see what was going on.
‘According to Mr. Wooten,’ Cheney wrote, ‘he saw Joe Rickey Hundley strike’ the child.

I bet you this had something to do with it.
Most of the time kids cry on airplanes because their ears need to be popped due to the pressure change.
A good way to deal with it is to carry a pack of 3 Oreo cookies. Give the kid something to chew on and they will quiet down when their ears pop. I have told several parents this on a plane and offered the cookies. 45 seconds later the parents think I can walk on water
Same here... This man is guilty of child abuse - not simple assault, either. The mother no doubt is horribly affected as well. The use of the “n” word makes it emotional abuse as well as physical.
Why not? Most funerals I attended as a child were more akin to a large family reunion vs. a sad event.
“Whack job.”
Sums the entire thing up nicely.
.
What???
Of course he denies using the word. He did. Otherwise, why would he deny it.
Still needs to have his arms broken.
“Nobody puts baby in the corner”
“Why was she taking a 19 month old to a funeral?”
Because it was her child. Why would anyone ask? Was she supposed to put the kid in a kennel?
Yes, I did finally get the “rest of the story” and it sounded as though besides being a boor, Rickey was also quite under the influence!
I agree - the custom is to slap the mother. At least that's how the story goes - when I was born, the doctor took one look at me and then slapped my mother...
The end result is what matters: did the brat stop screaming?
One of would be in the hospital and the other in jail. I assure you I wouldn't be the one in the backless hospital gown.
