Now, having amused myself with that thought; my husband and I have been following the Gary Taubes' diet regimen and we are back on the butter. My late father always refused to eat the "margarine", and he ate butter til his dying day. I guess his 8th grade education trumps all the know-it-all science types we have today.
How do we know these “new” health experts don’t have it wrong........LOL!

Well soybeans and corn are genetically modified also so no joy there. Also once you’ve partially hyrdogenated the vegetable oil you’ve created a health disaster.
Salted butter was created to hid the flavor of rancid butter - an issue before the widespread availability of refrigeration, or so I have been told.

Butter is not.
I don’t know about the dangers of salt, but it may be. They always throw in a handful of salt, but if the stuff you are using already has salt there is no need to add more. And most of the admonitions are to add ingredients to taste. My doc told me with my high blood pressure I could eat all the salt I want/s . The issue I have between butter and oleo is the price. But I prefer butter.

these health myths are annoying aren’t they?
I read that in Korea a lot of people think fans will kill you.
You see, once the temp. hit about 100 f - fans don’t make you feel cooler any more and start dehydrating you. SO people died in front of fans during bad heat waves.
Putting a bowl of ice or a wet towel in front of the fan would have helped.
