Those poor children, they are now orphans at such a young age

i'm surprised they are not with family on either side... anyway, we adopted our two boys (brothers) together when they were 5 y.o and 8-months old... and they are great! i hope these boys will be able to be placed in a loving family soon...

There was once a song (country, of course): “Would you catch a falling star”.

I feel horrible for her two small children

As sad as it sounds, I believe that she just had another baby, with a man who recently committed suicide.

Or possibly she didn’t know how long until she’d be found.

Simple one of those things we’ll never know...

Careers in pop music don’t last long. Pop, which is what she played, even if it was produced in Nashville. Country singers like Emmylou, on the other hand, have staying power.

that is common thought on suicide... i used to hold that same thought... but those who commit or attempt suicide are in such a different state of mind... a really dark place... i no longer believe it's selfishness... it may seem that way, especially for those left behind...

Well said.

A family friend took his own life after a life long struggle with depression ... gun in the mouth. His oldest son found him in the back yard on his birthday. His dad was obviously not in his right mind to do such a thing. Truly a tragedy ... that case and this one.

As The ENQUIRER prevously reported McCready has had a long history of substance abuse and mental problems and was recently admitted to a treatment facility.

The grim comes just weeks after The ENQUIRER revealed exclusively that Mindy was under investigation by the police probing the shooting death of her boyfriend’s suicide as a possible homicide. The father of her infant son, David Wilson, was discovered dead of what was initially reported as a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound.

Yet,The ENQUIRER previously reported  in a bombshell world exclsuive  that while no one alleged McCready had anything to do with death and was not a suspect, Cleburne County Sherriff Marty Moss told The ENQUIRER excluisvely: “This is a very high-profile case and we need to make sure it’s investigated thoroughly as possible. It could take weeks for the state crime lab to complete their tests on Mr. Wilson’s body, and if you’ll notice, it was Mindy McCready’s spokesperson – not anyone involved in the investigation – who made the determination that Mr. Wilson’s death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

My cousin did the same in ~1990. I feel bad for the police officer who witnessed it while trying to talk him down, his son who (at the time) vowed to never have kids of his own, and my aunt and uncle who went through such terrible pain.

His son now has a son of his own and is an awesome dad. The police officer is good friends with my aunt and uncle. My cousin I still pray for. He lived with me and my family for a while while he was trying to get back on his feet after a horrible divorce. I’m not sure he ever recovered from that.

In 1997, McCready became engaged to actor Dean Cain.[8] The couple broke up the following year.[9]

McCready also dated former NHL hockey player Drake Berehowsky.[10]

In May 2005, McCready’s ex-boyfriend, Billy McKnight, was arrested and charged with attempted murder after beating and choking her.[4][11] After reporting to People magazine that she had cut ties with her abuser, McCready was found unconscious the following July, in a hotel lobby in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, after attempting suicide. She was hospitalized for a drug overdose after washing down a large amount of undisclosed drugs with alcohol.[12] That September, when she was pregnant with McKnight’s child, she attempted suicide again by overdosing on antidepressants.[13]

On March 25, 2006, McCready gave birth to a son, Zander Ryan McCready.[14]

On December 17, 2008, paramedics were called to McCready’s Nashville home after an apparent suicide attempt; they transported her to a hospital after finding wounds on her wrists.[15]

McCready appeared in the third season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which aired in January and February 2010 and depicting her struggle with substance addiction.[16] She later discussed her recovery and possible studio work with Todd Gaither on a March 2010 episode of The View.
A pornographic videotape of McCready and an ex-boyfriend referred to as “Peter”[17] went on sale by Vivid Entertainment in 2010.[18]

On May 25, 2010, McCready was hospitalized in Cape Coral, Florida, for a possible drug overdose; she may have had a reaction to Darvocet her mother had given her.[19] She was released later that day and returned home.[20]

Roger Clemens affair

In April 2008, the New York Daily News reported on a possible long-term relationship between McCready and baseball star Roger Clemens that began when she was 15.[21]

Clemens’ attorney Rusty Hardin denied the affair, stating that Clemens would bring a defamation suit regarding this false allegation. Clemens’ attorney admitted that a relationship existed, but described McCready as a “close family friend.” He also stated that McCready had traveled on Clemens’ personal jet and that Clemens’ wife was aware of the relationship.[21] Clemens issued a statement saying only that “I have made mistakes in my personal life for which I am sorry.”[22] McCready described the relationship as being sexual in nature.[23]

On November 17, 2008, McCready spoke in more detail to Inside Edition about her affair with Clemens. She stated that their relationship lasted for more than a decade, ending when Clemens refused to leave his wife to marry McCready. However, she denied that she was 15 when it began; she said they met when she was 16 and the relationship only became sexual “several years later”.[24]

Legal troubles

In August 2004, McCready was arrested in Tennessee for using a fake prescription to buy the painkiller OxyContin. Although she initially denied the charge, she pleaded guilty and was fined $4,000, sentenced to three years probation, and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.[25][26]

In May 2005, she was stopped by Nashville police for speeding, then arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.[27] A jury later found her not guilty on the charges of DUI, but guilty of driving with a suspended license.[28] That July, she was charged in Arizona with identity theft, unlawful use of transportation, unlawful imprisonment, and hindering prosecution.[29]

An arrest warrant was issued for her the following month for violation of her probation when she left Tennessee without her probation officer’s permission. She was also charged with not reporting to her probation officer during the month of July.[30] She was finally arrested in Florida and returned to Tennessee. She faced a hearing later that year on charges of violating her probation on a drug charge by failing to check in with her probation officer and leaving the state without permission to go to Florida.[31]

In July 2007, McCready was arrested in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was charged with battery and resisting arrest for an apparent scuffle with her mother.[32] The following week, she was taken into custody at the Nashville International Airport for violating probation.[33] In September, McCready was sentenced to a year in jail for violating probation. In addition to the jail time, she was ordered to serve two more years of probation and perform 200 additional hours of community service. She was released from jail in December.[34]

In June 2008, McCready was arrested in Tennessee for violating the terms of her probation set in September 2007.[35] Sentenced to 60 days in jail, McCready turned herself in on September 30, 2008.[36] After serving half of her sentence, she was released early for good behavior on October 31, 2008.[37]
Death

On April 9, 2012, McCready gave birth to her second child, a son named Zayne.[38] The child’s father, record producer David Wilson, was found dead in his home on January 13, 2013, of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.[39][40][41] Following Wilson’s death, McCready released a statement in which she referred to him as her “soulmate” and “life partner”.[40][41]

McCready committed suicide on February 17, 2013.[42] Her death was confirmed by a friend of her family.[43][44]

But for the grace of God go us all.

All of us have traits that could lead us to our destruction. She wandered from one addiction to another and form one abusive relationship to another.

I haven’t had to deal with a suicide, but I did have a family member like her that wandered from abusive boyfriend to abusive boyfriend. I think her last boyfriend encouraged her to attempt to commit suicide. My response was to tell him that regardless of that piece of tin on his shirt, that if I ever saw him again he wouldn’t survive it. He moved four hours away.

According to various media sources, including E! Online, The Wrap, and TMZ, troubled country singer Mindy McCready, age 37, has died of an apparent suicide, the result of a single self-inflicted gunshot. According to E! News, McCready shot herself and her dog. The Associated Press reports that her body was found 4pm Sunday on the front porch of her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas, after neighbors heard gunshots and called the police.

McCready leaves behind two children, 6-year-old Zander and 9-month-old Zayne. Her death comes just a little more than a month after the death of her boyfriend, songwriter David Wilson, age 34. Wilson’s death is still under investigation.

McCready’s tragic death follows a recent commitment to rehab and her children being removed from her home. A petition filed by McCready’s father this year revealed serious issues in the singer’s life, including alcohol and prescription drug abuse, as well as erratic behavior. According to a report from E!, who exclusively obtained the file, Tim McCready attested that his daughter had taken to her bed since the death of her boyfriend last month. “Sleeps all day,” he reported. “Drinks all night and is taking Rx drugs.”

Furthermore, McCready’s dad detailed that his daughter was refusing to bathe, was not taking care of her two young sons, and was acting violently. “Screams about everything,” he recorded. “Trying to hit father. Is not making any sense of any conversations with anyone.” The elder McCready also noted that Mindy was “very verbally abusive” to her older son.

The judge in the case responded to this by ordering admission to an inpatient facility for up to three weeks, stating: “There is cause to find there is clear and convincing evidence that Respondent is in imminent danger of harm to herself or others, suicidal or gravely disabled.” E! additionally reported that Tim McCready’s former son-in-law, Billy McKnight—who is Zander’s father—filed motions in family court a week ago seeking detailed investigation into Mindy’s ability to care for their son. Both of Mindy’s children were subsequently taken into custody by state family services.

Interestingly, E! reports that Mindy’s father had been staying with her at her Arkansas home until Sunday morning, the day of her death. When he left, “she was in good spirits and seemed to be fine,” a source told E! News.
