Would you be surprised to hear that the human race is slowly becoming dumber, and dumber? Despite our advancements over the last tens or even hundreds of years, some experts believe that humans are losing cognitive capabilities and becoming more emotionally unstable. One Stanford University researcher and geneticist, Dr. Gerald Crabtree, believes that our intellectual decline as a race has much to do with adverse genetic mutations. But there is more to it than that.

That’s right. Welcome to Costco, I love you.
Well then, only government officials, government workers, and academics should be allowed to have children. I suppose.
The smart babies with moms who are in professional careers are being killed before they make it out of the womb.
It’s them thar pesticides and fluoride in the water. Who knew?
With Obama having been re-elected to a second term and seeing the popularity of shows like “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and “Housewives of xyz,” who could possibly disagree with this assessment of the American public?
My husband and I often lament that we are an island of wisdom in a sea of stupidity.
One attorney, Paul Beeber, NYSCOF President, weighs in on the research by saying:
Is this because there are more stupid people per capita, or because these days, they are more likely to leave a mark? Consider that earlier, less intelligent people would have their writings or other records kept. We are more likely to find the letters of Thomas Jefferson than the ramblings of Willie, the village idiot. Today, as evidenced by the postings on various websites, idiots are now just as communicative, if not more, than their smarter counterparts.
This thread is brought to you by Carl’s Jr.
Entertainment is more important than education.
I would wager that if an average citizen from Athens of 1000 BC were to appear suddenly among us, he or she would be among the brightest and most intellectually alive of our colleagues and companions, with a good memory, a broad range of ideas, and a clear-sighted view of important issues. Furthermore, I would guess that he or she would be among the most emotionally stable of our friends and colleagues, the geneticist began his article in the scientific journal Trends in Genetics.
Welfare countries have simply created government funded breeding programs for the least qualified people to have children, while those most qualified are tax slaves and unable to afford kids. This has done more to instigate the decline than any other single variable. This is simply my own observation formulated a decade or more ago.
Not one of the reasons listed suggests that it could be our educational system...the most obvious place to begin looking. Definitely a lack of intelligence on the part of those doing the study, I’d say.
Don’ know ‘bou ‘dat, but I think it has SUMthin’ t’do wit’ the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.
I think science calls it the second law of thermodynamics and it applies to everything in the universe except the evolution of man.
Had reproduction required 10 steps, most of the world’s problems would have been avoided. The stupid and the lazy would be extinct.
IQ (intelligence) is for the most part inherited and not equally distributed among human races.
Idiocracy was not a film, it’s prophecy.
genetics yes but there is also a pronounced local environmental factor in the decline of intelligence...
(or at least, integrity)
just look at the intense concentration in WashDC
How can anybody draw any conclusions about intelligence levels when the intelligence hasn’t been allowed to develop with the indoctrination which the liberal school systems have imposed on the children during their most impressionable years, from head-start all the way through college?
Also, when people learn or decide to become dependent, their brains don’t get or need to be exercised or used as much as someone who needs to be out there in the workplace, making decisions day in and day out. What you don’t use you lose, and the brain needs “brain food”, or knowledge and daily challenges, in order to develop and remain active.
“I got a solution, you’re a dick....South Carolina, what’s up?”
Bwando! It’s what plants crave!
It’s got electrolites!
I OWN that movie as an example of where our society actually is. The movie is making the point by going over the top.
It’s real. We really are living in Idiocracy. That the lunacy is propped up as reasonalbe is probably what grates on me the most.
One example: I dumped TV in 1997. When I am exposed to “local” news now in any city, they talk to me like I’m in the sixth grade. Maybe the fifth...
This will leave a mark.
(gunfire)”That’s what I thought!”
I would actually prefer President Camacho to Obama. At least it would be entertaining.
The law of God, the law of nature is survival of the fittest. Now we have a nanny state taking care of those who would not survive without subsidizing etc. Recently I heard someone say something like “You can’t fix stupid. Though take the obvious warning labels away and stupid will fix itself by process of elimination. heehee”
Kurt Vonnegut Jr. had a decent story called Harrison Bergeron. It’s a dystopic future story where they “handicap” people to make everyone equal.
It’s a great movie. It helps me to laugh at our sad future.
I agree with you. The source of this “knowledge” seemed to be highly questionable, just a libbie blog. Junk science to a T.
But why do plants crave it??????
But why do plants crave it??????
Because. Um. It has electrolytes!
But why do plants crave it??????
I’m thinking of going to Starbucks for a “full Latte”.
LOL! So Am I!
Over the past 75 years in America, and perhaps even longer in other lands, we have been subsidizing the reproduction of the least cerebral, while taxing the more intelligent to a point where they have far fewer children. We have also, since 1965, encouraged the immigration of a less skilled, less cerebral segment of the outside world, than we drew earlier.
Thus there has been a measured fall in school achievement levels, since the early 1900s. Thus there has also been a considerable "dumbing down" in our observed levels of political discourse. Contrast the Phd. thesis level of public political addresses in the 1840s, with the moronic 30 second sound-bite today. The public with little formal education, followed the oratory of Webster, Clay & Calhoun; while college graduates today, chant in unison, like Nazi robots at the slogans of an Obama!
The reporter's commentary that follows the common sense--so far as it goes--quotes from the geneticist, in the balance of the featured article, is itself an indication of the dumbing down of contemporary "analysis."
You just described the major premise of the movie Idiocracy.
Rent it. Watch it.
It will all be clear.
BTW, I compare “Bwando” to “Global warming”.
Lol. That clip is absolutely true.
