Vanity: Exactly who is the "Republican Majority Campaign"?

I apologize if this has been discussed before... I searched and found nothing.

We've been getting a lot of phone calls as of late from a group called "Republican Majority Campaign" soliciting contributions. Knowing nothing about them, I've tried to politely decline. The representatives with whom I've spoken have been more than a little bit pushy. I've asked them to send me information via the mail but they are not willing to do so without a small contribution. That doesn't cut it for me...

I know that Carl Rove's group is called "American Crossroads". I personally wouldn't send them a dime, as Rove is not conservative. But I am curious as to the leanings of the "Republican Majority Campaign". Their website reveals very little. A web search reveals only (what I consider to be) minor contributions considering what appears to be large sums raised.

Anyone have any more information?

STAY AWAY!

http://www.factcheck.org/2011/10/republican-majority-campaign/

AND they are downright nasty. Most of what they spend pays themselves high salaries and for a phone operation out of Arizona that is an office on the tenth floor of a building. Their main office is in Santa Ana, CA which has no listed telephone number.
The exec is gary kreep, a real piece of work.
They give very little to actual campaigns.

I’m not going to the the republican anything one red cent.

^^^
Same here. And we have been getting an average of a call per week from a number of organizations trying to cash in on conservative anger.

Numerous robo-calls come in with someone asking in a robust and indignant manner if I am tired of the Obama this or that. Have not stayed on long enough, but I assume, Mr. Robo asks me to stand by to speak with someone if I want to defeat whatever Obama evil we are addressing at the time.

I just don’t trust any of them, and I quit giving money to all political organizations. The husband is, I think, slowly seeing the light on this one. He sent the GOP money during the last election. That relatively modest donation was met with at least one mailer per day for weeks. We were trying to estimate how much money they were wasting in paper costs alone. Disgusting, IMO.

The information provided in this thread confirms my original suspicions. Thanks to all who contributed!

I don't give to anybody over the phone. If I donate, it's to either locals parties/pacs/candidates or individual candidates.

National doesn't get one red cent.

I should clarify when I mention “locals parties/pacs/candidates” I’m referring to those I know personally.

Exactly. We were getting so many calls, since the election, that we bought a call blocking phone. It actually blocks entire area codes, too. MUCH quieter around here, now ;)

I often wonder how much money these groups actually make after paying rent, paying for the junk mail, and paying the callers in their boiler room operations.
