Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today warned of the "enormous impact" the looming sequester budget cuts will have on air travel in America, given that his department will have to cut nearly $1 billion from its budget, with more than $600 million coming from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
As the one former Republican congressman in President Obama's cabinet, LaHood put the responsibility squarely on Republicans to step up and work with Democrats to find a way to avert the cuts, slated to kick in on March 1.
"What I'm trying to do is to wake up members of the Congress...

This commie RINO moron has been announcing his retirement for the last two years. He needs to shut up and get the hell out. What a pinhead.
What a disingenuous sack if $hit.
He's going to spend more money next year than he spent this year.
Maybe they can fire all the TSA union tards and then give the savings over to the FAA.
Thats what all this complainign is about ... a lousy 2%.
If Obama can’t cut 2% after raising the deficit 400% then he is not serious about fixing the deficit.
Nicely said..& where’s the GOP to simply articulate this??
They do this every frickin time! sitting on sidelines, letting RATS control the narrative..so frustrating!! They need to get their heads out of the sand & fight back.
No, I'm not talking about some guy returning from a hunting trip with a forgotten shell in his carry-on luggage or some poor schlub who had to have his CPAP machine tested. They are pretty good at that type of trivia.
I'm talking about an actual terrorist incident like the shoe bomber who was stopped by passengers on the plane.
Let it all come to a standstill. Quit feeding the beast.
Exactly. I was gonna post these same thoughts. You beat me to it.
I'm so flipping tired of this administration and the "enormous impact" ANYTHING the Repubs do/don't do will have.
yeah. God forbid TSA can’t make more toddlers in wheelchairs cry.
I’m tired of being threatened.
Pull the trigger scumbags.
0bamaCare is really the only case that mattered.
Those of us who will drive 2,000 miles rather than submit to the TSA gropers and the airline “service” which is fast approaching 1970’s Soviet Union levels of quality, actually don’t give a crap what happens at the airport.
So Ray LaHood is out there agitating to make people panic—so what, he’s appointed by Obama, it’s his job to lie. When I hear this from the CEOs of the airlines, I MIGHT start believing.....
Airport security is paid for by addon airline ticket fees. Budget cuts should have no impact on a fee paid service.
Maybe that's like saying Social Security is paid for by FICA taxes, LOL.
Oh. YEAH. Right. This a regime thinks honesty is a quaint word used by weaklings.
I'm with you there.
I have loved flying since I was a little boy [gee, those biplanes were fun], but I haven't stepped on a plane in well over a decade. My brother has invited me on a trip to London all expenses paid. I'll probably break my anti-flying vow, but I really wish he'd consider the "Queen Mary".
Heck, I'd probably take the Carnival "Triumph" if it meant skipping security.
He’s losing a billion dollars out of a seventy-billion dollar budget - one day off every three months for each employee - yet my daughter, who works for the FAA, has been subjected to scare stories for weeks about how people will be fired or at the best be forced to take a day off every week for the next half-year - these terror tactics are a disgrace.......
LaHood is the buffoon who ran the Clinton impeachment trial. After his fiasco then, he should have never been put in charge of anything else. He was and is the quintessential RINO - that’s why Obama picked him.
