Vatican Denies Gay Blackmail Rumors
NewsMax ^ | 02/23/2013

The Vatican on Saturday accused the Italian media of spreading "false and damaging" reports in what it condemned as a deplorable attempt to influence cardinals who will meet in a secret conclave next month to elect a new pope.

Since Pope Benedict announced his resignation on Feb. 11, Italian newspapers have been full of rumors about conspiracies, secret reports and lobbies in the Vatican that they say pushed the pope to abdicate, including a rumor that involved a shadowy "gay lobby" within the Vatican.

CNN Senior Vatican Analyst John Allen, who is also a correspondent with the National Catholic Reporter, cautioned that such unsourced speculation should be taken with a grain of salt.

While Allen said he doesn't know for sure whether a network based on sexual orientation was investigated by the Vatican, he said "frankly, it would be a little surprising if they hadn't" — given past scandals that have come to light.

Allen theorized that the Pope may have been worn down by the "cumulative impact of the various meltdowns over the last eight years" in a piece he wrote on Friday.

"It's probably a stretch to draw a straight line between all of this and Benedict's resignation," he said. "For the most part, one has to take the Pope at his word: He's stepping aside because he's old and tired, not because of any particular crisis."

The Vatican in its statement on Saturday said, "It is deplorable that, as we draw closer to the time of the beginning of the conclave ... that there be a widespread distribution of often unverified, unverifiable or completely false news stories that cause serious damage to persons and institutions."

Haters gonna hate. True or false, the damage is done. The thing about innuendo, even when it turns out not to be true, people still remember it as true, especially if they are the type to rush to embrace anything negative about the one they hate.

Who knows if the Pope resigned because of the Gay Revolution inside the Church. Perhaps his resignation is unrelated to it.

But there is such a revolution. There is a gay revolution inside the Church...and around the world.

And this revolution isn't just about gays...it is about the moral void of Marxism...the emptiness of communism/socialism.

This revolution is on all fronts...the Catholic Church, the Protestant Denominations, democracy, the family, morality, freedom...God Himself.

There is a war ahead of us. We are behooved to identify the enemy and prepare for battle.

You think this is a joke? Then step aside so that those who know this is no joke can do their jobs.

See the tagline.

Go back to the Democratic Convention...

Haters gonna hate?

That is not a Free Republic paradigm.

There are few haters here.

This is a transcendent place. FR is about rising above your insinuation.

Bugger off...

What could homosexual Catholic church leaders blackmail a Pope with?

I guess the better question is, could a Catholic Pope participate in a blackmail, no matter what the subject matter or cost was?

The claim doesn’t make much sense. Unless he was involved, why would it make him decide to resign? It would actually give him the opportunity to look good by coming down hard on the perpetrators.

Sin is sin. If anyone rejoices in these rumors/facts/innuendos then they have aligned with Satan. All Christians should be united against sin. Regardless of denomination. Now is not the time for schadenfreude.

No, it is the supposed high ranking gay church leaders who are being blackmailed, not the Pope. The Pope just shipped somebody off to South America as a nuncio and it was somebody one of his closest Cardinal friends told him to fire last year. Now it seems to be a promotion not a firing....the Peter Principle takes a new twist!

Don’t worry, God is in control and there will be a celestial spanking to clean up the globe one of these years.

I thought that all the speculation was about why the Pope is leaving office.

I don’t know any haters on FR. We use intellect here, not emotions. If you don’t identify the “problem” then you can’t eliminate it.

What Fr. Oko wrote is absolutely true. The filth in the Catholic Church has been evident for 50 years. Every one should read his article-—it is profound and full of Truth.

Sheesh. Re-read c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y what I said and didn't say: I was not referring to any Freepers as haters--I was talking about the article.

I agree, your post didn’t indicate in any way that it was referring to FR.

Many of satan’s moles have infested the entire Catholic Church an action accellerated by Vatican II.

“This way, leading positions in the Church may be held by people suffering from deep internal wounds, hardly displaying the spiritual level expected of their office; people who have given themselves away to hypocrisy and are especially prone to blackmailing by the enemies of Christianity.”

This Pope recognizes the problem and he wants it dealt with ASAP. He also recognizes his geriatric condition is another situation that has serious implications.

I thought the Catholic Pope was retiring, besides, this is 2013, ASAP is many decades, generations, even centuries in the past.
