A woman has complained that a dog that bit her daughter is racist.
Pam Nkosi of Honeydew, north of Johannesburg, South Africa, said a bull terrier ran into her garden and bit her seven-year-old daughter while she played with other children.
I feel that the dog is racist, Ms Nkosi reportedly said. The way it behaved. It shows that it was not familiar with other races.
She claimed that the dogs owner, named as Sean Norman, had not visited her after the incident nor offered to pay her daughters hospital bills.
Animal welfare inspector Tarryn Smith could not comment on the allegation of racism but did explain that domestic animals behave differently because of their upbringing.
Local police meanwhile confirmed the case was being investigated.
Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said: The investigating officer is currently obtaining statements after which the case docket will be handed in for a decision at the Roodepoort magistrates court.
Maybe dolphins will make a better go of it. Humans are on the way out.
Did she call the po-po on her Obamaphone?
Most dogs are racist in that they don’t like people that are different from what they are used to.
Living in Thailand, the only time I ever got bitten by a dog that was not my own (breaking up fights or whatever) was clearly because I was not Thai - attacked me from the back and bit me on the ass.
Many dogs don’t like people in uniforms or disabled folks. I’ve raised dogs that dislike or get aggressive with men with beards or people wearing hats. Of course many don’t like kids, and many show a preference for either men or women.
It’s all a pack thing isn’t it? Dogs don’t see race, heck they don’t even make distinctions about species. It’s ‘my pack’ or ‘not my pack.’
Ya think? ;^)
>>Its all a pack thing isnt it?
White africans need to either start shooting or leave. Oh wait, the same holds throgh for white americans.
My dog is not racist. She barks at everything and everyone who walks in the door. Even me.
When ya make something idiot proof.....someone makes a better idiot.
Basic engineering principle, you betcha.
I am so going to steal that.
Anybody not convinced that liberalism is a mental illness?
I had a dear dog my Annabelle, in the 70’s. She was a terrier mutt and I got her right from the litter, owned by a white family in Chicago. had never seen a black or hispanic. I raised her in an integrated neighborhood across from a park with a lot of dog owners. She instinctively did not like black people and would stiffen up and growl, sometimes loudly. She also would stand in a defensive position with me behind her. My little maltese mix that I have now loves everyone.
Years ago my grandfather had a weimaraner that was a great dog, friendly and greeted strangers like family for years until a black employee came over to the house. That dog turned vicious the instant he saw the guy, tried to tear him to pieces. We didn’t know what to think until it happened again with a different black guy a year or so later.
He was raised since a pup with us, so it was just the dog didn’t like seeing someone different we think.
You might be onto something...
My shepherds love the old white conservative Presbyterian guy next door, but can’t wait to take a bite out of the Cuban Obama fanatics on the other side of us....
Goooood Doggies :-)
Now I have officially heard everything. Wow what a maroon!
Obviously the dog needs sensitivity training.
Yep. Ship that dog off to an internment camp for deprogramming.
Or let’s not, and say we did.
The accuser is such a “maroon” that she would never know anyway.
Woof! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)
Not too shocking. Dogs are like humans and go by what they’re used to, what they know. They’re not stupid; they notice differences. Just like us.
I, too, have heard of this happening but not sure of the explanation of why it happens. Perhaps if the person is very dark skinned it confuses the dogs, don’t know....
My daughter’s Chihuahua doesn’t like anybody much, but he really, really doesn’t like black people. Or Mexicans, ironically enough.
I have two Aussies and they dislike anyone that doesn’t match their pack specifications. Considering my neighborhood, that’s probably a good thing!
Is the dogs name Brian by any chance? ;)
