Something will happen to the back of the Hindenburg, said a letter to the German Embassy in May 1937, just before the huge dirigible burst into flames above the Lakehurst, New Jersey. The letter was eerily correct, but lacked specifics.
Was it a bomb? A hydrogen leak? A thunderstorm? A spark? Saint Elmos Fire?
Scientists and engineers from San Antonios very own Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) helped design, test and build Hindenburg 1/10 scale replicas to test each theory 75 years after the fact. A team of local engineers, scientists and historians teamed up with the Discovery Channels series Curiosity to get to the bottom of the crash that claimed the lives of 36 of the 97 passengers and crew aboard the Hindenburg airship.

And then the article at the link doesn’t even bother to give you the reason the Hindenberg exploded. It just tells you to go see “Curiousity” on the Discovery Channel.
Nothing but a “tease” advertisement for the Discovery Channel.
More info here from a site we dare not speak of. :)
It was the Jooooooooos.
Bush`s grandfather did it.
I'll never forget when Superman flew under that airship and caught Dabbs Greer falling from a rope he was hanging onto. Oh wait, that was different accident.
A father and son standing up on a hill above the site saw St. Elmo's Fire at the back of the ship, then a spark must have hit the hydrogen/oxygen mix coming out of the vent. The spark created a flame that, because the ship was tilted with its nose up, moved forward, along the spine, burning the ship along the way.
Link to a pretty stupid article .... sort of like Burma shave signs with the last couple missing!!
