When a show about the walking dead on basic cable beats every network show in the ratings demographic that advertisers care most about, you have to wonder who the real zombies are.
A zombie, after all, is something that continues to roam, and tries to devour all in its path even though its natural life is over — a description that does not sound that far-fetched when it comes to broadcast networks.
During its run last fall, “The Walking Dead” was the highest-rated show among viewers 18 to 49, the most-sought age group, with a bigger audience than network winners like “The Big Bang Theory,” “American Idol,” “The Voice” and “Modern Family.”

I enjoy WD although at times it comes across as “thirtysomething” with zombies.

You assumed such. I said you can "Legally Download" the episodes within hours of the episode being broadcast.

Am well beyond the 49 yr old mark but absolutely LOVE this show! The second season wasn’t liked by some but I thought the themes of hope in the face of reality (Hershel), questioning if life should go on (pregnant Lauri) the struggle between humanity and survival (Dail and Shane) were wonderfully executed. None of these actors are Big Names but are perfect in their roles...damn fine TV.
I hope this is a sign for the future...MSM can die on the vine.
If your DVR has Amazon or Itunes access then yes. I use a computer I built especially for media its connected directly to my TV and has a BlueRay capable DVD player. I download the files from Amazon and use their player.

You might give it a try...it’s a lot more than zombies...
The strength of the show is that it is a true drama, about the people involved. The zombies actually act as more of an overall but non-specific threat. Season 2 was both mind-blowing and heart-breaking.
I hope I'm getting better than 255 mbps by then.....right now I can't even watch a Youtube video without it freezing up on me.
We were watching Talking Dead after the show, and my jaw dropped when Lennie Davis started speaking with that accent! He was AMAZING in last night’s episode.
So that makes four British actors in WD....those playing Morgan, Rick, Maggie, and the Governor. I don’t mind at all, though, because all of them do a much better job of delivering an authentic Southern accent than many American actors I’ve seen.
I think the big thing AMC has figured out is the size of the country. The networks are always trying to appeal to the masses, they seek that general appeal, and in the process make canned often boring shows. And when they try to break out of that mold they make shows that don’t appeal to their core audience (who like canned highly predictable shows) and the shows find no audience. AMC has figured out that in a nation of 311 million you can appeal to a small segment and get a huge audience. They got the economies of scale, that even if only 2% of the population would be interested in this show that’s 6 million people, and that’s not an audience to sneeze at.
Then of course there’s the vastly different economic reality of cable vs broadcast network. Broadcast networks have much higher overhead and only get to use a fraction of the day to pay for themselves (the rest being dedicated to local content), cable networks are cheap and have the whole day to put in reruns of popular shows to get that extra handful of audience. This frees them up to take a lot more risks.
Hmmm something is not right here. My connection (just checked) is 25.75 Mbps which is considered really good around here and we can watch netflix/hulu streams on several computers all at the same time (same goes for youtube) and in HD and no problems.

I made a dumb mistake in my post...that should be 2.55 Mbps.
Our grade at speedtest.net is D-. Our service is currently with Verizon, and we’re looking around at different options.
We’re paying almost $100 a month to Directv and there is never anything to watch, considering the fact that reality shows dominate now. So maybe we’ll go back to cable, get a package deal and better internet speed, or maybe we’ll just go the Hulu route.
True BUT AMC is drawing more audience than the Networks. They are sometimes doing in an hour what it takes one of the broadcast networks 2 hours to get. Hell sometimes they are getting triple what some of the Networks get and with a smaller overall broadcast range (less households)
