Rise and shine! Snowquester is coming. It’s sunny right now, expecting a high of 40. But tonight rain starts after 5, and we’re expecting 3-6 inches before Noon tomorrow.

On the radio this morning they were playing this 911 call from a senior “independent living” facility where an old woman was dying and the lady on the phone would not give CPR because it was against the company policy. She was so cold and lackadaisical. The 911 operator is like “can you give the phone to a bystander?” and “Is there anyone there who can help save this woman’s life?”

“Not at this time” said the worker.

Based on what is underneath, your admonition is well-taken.

They try to get you to sign papers to that effect when you admit your senior to a facility like that. It’s called a POLST. I haven’t signed it yet for my mom, and I’ve had a lot of pressure put on me to do so. POLST stands for Pysician’s Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment. I have been given dire warnings that CPR would seriously harm my mom because of her osteoporoseus(sp?) — that her ribs and spine would crack to pieces with any pressure.

The nurses at senior facilities usually are LVNs or Practicals — not RNs. There is certain treatment that they are not allowed to administer. I just cannot find it in my being to sign an order to give no treatment to my mom in case of emergency. I just won’t do it.

That is a funny cartoon - so I have a question regarding Federal employees: bammer said the cleaning crew would be getting a cut in pay - can they legally do that since they are unionized? Or even if they could/would, would the union make up the difference?

I would say they will not get a cut in pay and that they won’t even get “furloughed” as others have.

The worker is there to provide a guaranteed source of income to the union. Not the other way around.

I have a friend who works for GM and when their hours were cut, the union made up the difference in their pay. I guess each union is different. That is what I based my question on.

Unreal isn’t it? It just proves the dems are not happy people in any way - they constantly lie, cheat or steal to get what they want, which is to take away everything that makes us happy.

My contractor friend got quite a laugh out of my sweatshirt-the one that reads “Jesus is coming” on the front and “and he is really pissed” on the back. He is bringing me a sweatshirt on Friday so I can make him one like it...

I’ll bet Obama has plenty
Of equipment he can use
To record the phone calls
And spy on all his crews

His paranoia has become
Nixonian, at the least-
Like Tricky Dick, obsessing
With feeding the secret beast

He probably has voodoo dolls
As his bibelots of choice-
They look like media people
And all speak with his voice ...

GM was paying for that, not the union. Their contract stipulated some insane terms about how they had to continue paying the people they didn’t need. The stories about the workers playing cards and watching porn on PCs are legion.

Liberals remind me of why I quit working as a casemanager and do construction instead-they are like the worst clients who wanted everyone they felt was to blame for their injury to have to pay them comp money-the employer and the comp carrier, etc-whine, whine, whine...

Failing that, they wanted to get an ambulance chaser lawyer to sue for “the purple wage”, aka SSDI. They weren’t happy unless everyone else was pissed off and out of money and patience-absolutely just like liberals...

Dave, have you seen a new show called “The Americans”? It is about russian agents living as Americans in the 60s-80s in the U.S. Blending in - really a good series. Right now they are living in the Reagan era (which just makes me so happy) and they keep saying how Russia is afraid of Reagan. lol But to address what T5 just referenced about chavez probably having been on ice for awhile...the show last week was about Reagan being shot and they were scrambling to see if they could find out any info on him fearing Russia would be blamed. There was an interesting comment made where one of the spys comments that the difference in America and in Russia is that the last two leaders in Russia had been dead for weeks before they knew anything, but in America they were reporting the truth about the President and they just couldn’t get over that.

Having a tough day. Took Missy to the groomers and she didn’t even finish up. She bathed her and groomed her back, but Missy cannot stand to get her legs groomed. Got her home and she fell over and over. Fell against the closet doors...fell out of her dog bed after I put her there. Heartbreaking. She fell more than a dozen times in the first 10 minutes I had her home. DH and I discussed this at length over the weekend, we are ready to let her go. It is now feeling too cruel to keep her alive.

I’m sorry to hear that your puppy has taken a bad turn-it sounds like maybe she was stressed by the grooming trip. I sincerely hope she is better and calmer tomorrow, so that you can have a little more time with her-having recently lost my Kitty boy to a brain tumor that slowly took him away, pretty much the way you are describing, except that he was a cat-that time is so precious-I still really miss him.
