Dallas iconic theme song will sound a little different tonight as the TNT series says goodbye to J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) with a memorial and funeral. Watch the revised opening credits below, and make sure you have a tissue handy. Exec producers Cynthia Cidre and Michael R. Robin spoke to EW.com about honoring Hagman, the wonderful last image of him captured on film, and how they orchestrated J.R.s final act.

Same here. During the run of "Jeannie," the producers must've consulted military advisors, because the Tony Nelson character's uniform was always sharp. That hasn't always been the case in shows featuring military characters.
They’ve done everything right with the reboot of that show.
Agree...this show has been great! The scenes with Hagman were the best. But I do like the new generation too!
The new Dallas is far too unbelievable. If it were to be believed, cousin or no cousin, Christopher would have beaten the living s**t out of John Ross by now.
I’m not a fan of the latest Dallas. The younger generation just isn’t all that interesting to me.
But I loved Hagman as JR. He could personify evil like no one else.
I have watched all of the new Dallas and I have trouble keeping all the young women apart.
I remember once a few years ago that Rush was talking about “Dallas”, and remarked on how grand and sophisticated we thought it was back then; but how cheap the sets looked when you watch the old episodes now. - It was a fun show that allowed us to escape our mundane situations for a while; even the music was stirring. - Ha! Son used to joke with me that my favorite food was SALAD, and my favorite tv show was SALAD spelled backwards (well, almost anyway).
Last week’s ending was bittersweet, but J.R. [Larry Hagman] would have liked it that way.
The “Who Shot J.R.” episode of the original series was one of the most watched in TV history.
How did JR rate a flagged casket? In the show, he never served in the military, was never a government official, and had no official governmental associations. Was it because of who he was and that Ewing Oil had government contracts? In a real-world scenario, what oil man the equivalant of JR Ewing has rated a flagged casket? That seemed a bit strange to me to see that. But of course, we ARE talking about J.R. Ewing of Dallas after all.
I wondered the same thing when I saw the flag-draped coffin.
According to the recap in the Dallas Morning News, it states that JR served in VietNam. That’s something I wasn’t aware of. Must have been mentioned in the original series long, long ago.
