More than 150 pole dancing artists from around the nation will be at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday and Saturday for the 2013 Pacific Pole Championships.
The event which is part of a series created by the Pole Sport Organization in 2012 features contestants from four skill levels and three age groups ranging from 18 years old to 40 and over.
Performers are evaluated on multiple elements including: technique, difficulty, balance of program, musicality, and stage presence in Dramatic, Entertainment, Championship, and Showcase categories.
Founded by California Pole Dance Championship 2011 bronze medalist Amy Guion and former ice skater Bayleigh Pettigrew, the event grew from a small community movement to a large national brand in just under two years.
Weve received a huge amount of support from other dancers and pole dance companies with these events, Guion said. We wanted to start an event that was by the community, for the community.
There is no nudity involved in the competition, which organizers said highlights the art of pole dancing instructed at more than 3,000 pole-specific clubs and gyms across the country.
Here’s one of the “artists”....http://theblacksphere.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/MO-doing-stage-dance-300x374.jpg
So is Michelle going to be the star contender?

“.. the downward spiral of society continues..”
Polish people love to dance.. why so hateful against the Poles, BenLurkin?!!
What's wrong with that?
Not another MOTUS thread.
She is going to be the winner, hands down.
Shouldn’t it be held in Warsaw or Krakow?
Well that one gal on the left is showing a little leg :)
He said "pole."
What’s odd about this is that this new “sport” has quickly evolved far beyond its origins in strip clubs. Way beyond. It’s now more about gymnastics than dancing. I don’t know if it is to be taken seriously yet... But it’s headed for a different place now.
I can think of worse ways for society to end.
“’Cause your friends don’t dance and if they don’t dance. Well they’re no friends of mine.”
I’m partial to the Mazurka, myself.
As an aside...why is it the Russian women are so beautiful, but the men all look like they should be mechanics at a bus depot....
My favorite is the POLka.
“There is no nudity involved?”...
WTF?...That just turned a GT-40 into a VW!
“2020 Olympic Pole Dancing Medalist ...”
Oh crap! I don’t think there’s a pole strong enough..LOL
hey, get rid of Olympic wrestling,, add pole dancing as a medal event
She would need to use one of Barak’s Greek columns to pole dance!
In an almost too good a situation to be real ....
In January I had to fly to NYC for business. A young lady (attractive, not beautiful) set in the aisle seat in the row where I had the window seat, and there was no one in the middle seat. We chatted a bit, and I asked her if she was going to NYC for fun or business. Well that is when it got really interesting.
She said she was going to NYC to be on the Jerry Springer show and I asked her why and the she told me (with a giggle) that she was the 2012 Pole Dancing champion. You can imagine my reaction. We had a few laughs about that, chatted a bit and then went our separate ways. She actually was a very nice young lady.
I bet she could win her share of arm wrestling matches.. it looks a lot easier than it is..
[sigh]... Probably more right than you know. Though, it’s more of an athletic event than some of the dumb stuff that *is* in the Olympics already.
Just as 30 years ago, no one could have predicted that "red," as a political science term--e. g. "red state"--would have the connotation that it has today.
