The president of one of the nation's oldest gun manufacturers closed down his Connecticut factory Thursday morning and bused 400 of his workers to the state Capitol so they could personally urge lawmakers not to pass gun control legislation that they say could risk their livelihoods.

Colt...and other manufacturers have been in that area for nearly 200 years. It’s not that easy. These antigun nuts are getting away with murder based on agenda and emotion. It makes me sick.
All of the arms manufacturers will eventually have to move to more gun-friendly states. It’s odd how of the old North is both disarming itself and sending all its manufacturing capability elsewhere.
We would love to have Colt in the small Idaho town where I live...plus, they could open a door and do their test-firing.

I have a couple of Colt Rifles. A cherry SP1 made in 1971, and an LE6920 made in 2010. I also have a 1911A1 US Army from 1943, and a Colt 1911 commerative WWI issue.
I won’t buy another from them, or Springfield, Smith and Wesson, Beretta, or whomever if they stay in a state that limits the magazine sizes and bans what they call ‘assault weapons.
To further add to the “slap in the face”, this area of the country is where it all started. Where our freedoms originated. Sorry, sad state of affairs. But with radical left wing extremist demokkkrat scumbags in charge, that’s what you get. My whole familiy’s roots are in the Hudson Valley from before there was a USA or even a state of New York. Lucky for me that my dad left the area when he joined the Navy so I don’t have any commitment to that region of the country anymore other than family history. I’m sure my ancestors are spinning in their graves at what has become of their dream.

The only way to greatly reduce gun (or any other) violence is to get rid of the people most likely to commit that violence.

Being where they are, you are probably correct in assuming they are union “workers”. Looks like a good time for these plants to relocate (if it’s possible) to right to work locations and let the whiners moan and complain. Understand it’s not quite as easy as that but if they are facing possible boycotts from buyers it’s their choice. I’ve been in and out of unions and supervised union “workers”. I have NO use for unions in today’s world.

I was thinking just the same thoughts yesterday. The cradle of liberty, the place where it all started, where the Tea Party started, where the original “Committees of Correspondence” began, where the first stirrings of freedom and the “Shots heard round the world” happened, this region of New England is now the home of compliance, Nanny State Liberalism and Nouveau Torryism, with a majority of its residents willing to wear the yoke of oppression without complaint.
Watching the movie “April Morning” on Netflix should be required for all Americans, especially for those in regions of the country in which whose residents have forgotten about the courage of our ancestors.
At this point, we're in such a fiscal mess, I don't care if they are union jobs or not. They are jobs. It's sad, no, more like a Shakespearean tragedy. And it has been that way for a long time.
Emperor Dannel P. Malloy has said if the assault weapons ban were to be expanded, gun manufacturers would still be able to sell weapons that are illegal to sell in Connecticut outside of Connecticut.
"I don't want them to leave," Malloy said on Wednesday. "As long as they are manufacturing a product that can be legally consumed or purchased in the nation they are welcome to stay in our state." WTF?
*Sigh*...manufacturing in good old Connecticut is disapperaing fast. Pratt used to be our largest emplyer...now it's the casinos. *Sigh.*

I sympathize with these Colt employees wanting to save their jobs, but their demonstration should also be directed at the unconstitutional laws that have been passed and are now being proposed in their state assembly. Like I said in my earlier post, they all should watch the movie “April Morning” on Netflix and perhaps they would be reminded our forefathers’ courage in the defense of our/their Natural rights. The 2nd Amendment protects all other rights of the people. New Englanders must revive the spark of liberty. Now, we would be a good time to remember that.
